Madeleine smiled vaguely, suddenly reminded of kicking Jack, for some odd reason. "No, it's not, I should be more careful," she said. "But anyway, doesn't matter."

"Doesn't matter then," he smiled, "although my wrist screans otherwise."

Madeleine winced apologetically. "I can make it better, if it still hurts..."

"How?" he laughed. "Magical healing powers?"

"Yep," she said, grinning and reaching out for his arm. "May I?"

He smiled, and extended his hand to meet her's. This time, when they touched, she was soft, and gentle. Her hand was soft- much softer than he'd expected. "Now what?"

Madeleine had to work really, really hard to stop herself from interlocking her fingers with his the way they used to. Taking his hand with her right hand, she placed the fingertips of her left hand on the part of his wrist and focused on it, letting the golden glow emit from it.

Lee watched, fascinated, as the golden glow enveloped his hand; its warmth tickling him slightly. Even as his hand healed, he let it linger in her's a moment longer, and then, in gratitude, automatically he squeezed it. "Thanks," he said, in relief, taking away his hand.

She felt a not-so-inexplicable rush of longing and affection as he squeezed her hand, but inwardly sighed as his hand slipped out of hers. But his touch still lingered on her hand. She looked up at him and smiled. "Better?"

"Much," he smiled. Then... he stopped again. He had to get more of an answer out of her. "Maddie, I'm sorry to bug you about this... but like... really, how serious were we?"

Madeleine sighed, audibly this time, and glanced down again. "We were... I dunno, kind of serious," she said quietly. "We've been dating for a few months." A few, wonderful months. And it hurt so much that he couldn't remember it. And even more that she wouldn't let herself tell him.

Months...?! Okay, now he felt kinda' crap. A month seemed long enough to get to know each other, marry each other and have about five kids. A day already stretched out forever. Time always worked like this- of that he was certain- but it felt so strange. Some flies lived for only 24 hours- and they lived rich, full lives at that. It was funny that humans should get so much extra time... ... and probably wasted it. So if Maddie and him had spent a good few marriage-worthy months together, she must feel kinda' crap too. Empathy. It sucked. As did guilt. Sucked the life out of him. He was gradually feeling lower and lower, but even as he sank, a strange, though appropriate song floated into his head... "Take a sad song, and make it better..." How? Maybe someone else he knew would. Whoever else. "It's snowing."

Madeleine's eyes flickered up to the window, grateful for the subject change, and spying the little white flakes as they floated down past the window, contrasting with the black, silhouetted sky. "Well, what do you know?" she said softly. She could see the forest from here, and she thought about their place. Would the flakes be floating through the gaps that the sunlight floated down? Would she go there and find it covered in snow, or would the snow rest on the canopy above? She sighed and leaned back in the chair, gazing thoughtfully out of the window.

"It can't be that late," Lee said softly, glancing at the clock. It was 9.00pm. People were all beginning to flock back towards the Common Room, but most stopped and stared when they saw Lee and Madeleine together. Lee raised his eyebrows as whispers surrounded them. Apparently, with Maddie being Head of the Warriors, they were quite a high profile couple. Still, he didn't like the feeling of all those eyes on him. His skin was prickling again. "Saturday tomorrow," Lee sighed, leaning back and stretching, as though trying to shake the feeling of people watching him off. "Any plans? I have none."

Madeleine shook her head, glancing about as she noticed the whispers about the room. "No, I haven't," she said, before frowning. "Don't they know it's rude to whisper?" It was really annoying her, actually. She was trying to keep Lee as... not as clueless as possible, but being clueless would, in the end, keep him happy, right? The whispers were doing exactly the opposite, and she could only pray that no one would mention Levi to him. If they do...
