"Oh." Triggers? Could something... what could trigger him back to normal. She swore to herself that she'd think about it and try and come up with something. She shook her head. "No, sorry, strawberries doesn't mean anything to me. Maybe Kira might know?"

"It was the smell," he pressed on hopefully. "I dunno. Like perfume, or shampoo or something..." Nope. Right. Gotcha.

Madeleine mused for a second, before shaking her head. "Doesn't ring a bell. Sorry."

"What else could trigger stuff, d'you reckon?" Lee asked, watching her carefully.

If she kissed him... But she immediately forced that one back. That could only - would only - hurt the two of them. She shrugged. "It could be anything, I guess. I can make a list of some things that were important to you and we can go through it, if you like."

Lee looked at her. "Sure, you could just say them. I've got a good memory..." he trailed off and grinned crookedly, "that is, for what I remember now, I remember it all pretty good." If she kissed him... Yeah, the thought was there as a potential trigger. But it was just his own fancy- his own idea. He really did like Maddie, he couldn't help it. Hormones were sort of... hard to shake off.

She could kiss him. Here, and now, she could. God knew that she was longing too - as if one kiss would make it all better. Just to feel his lips on hers again... But she couldn't do that. "Well, there was a place in the forest we used to go to all the time," Madeleine suggested, thinking about it.

"That could work..." he said slowly, then stopped. "Like... trees. An enclosure. Spiders- there's a lot of them, ain't there?" He felt he knew the place. It was one of those places he had indepth knowledge of, though he couldn't ever remember setting foot in them.

Madeleine's face fell slightly at that. He was right. "That's... that's right," she said, measuring her words again to stop the muffled moan she felt could escape. "Lots of spiders. I was terrified of them; you helped me to get over it..."

He laughed. "Head of the Warriors... needing me to help you get over a couple of spiders?"

Madeleine laughed. "Yeah, it's stupid, but I woke up one morning when I was five with one about... half the size of my palm on my neck. It was pretty scary, and I had to shapeshift into a spider a few times. It's one of the most disgusting things ever."

"Hardly disgusting!" he cried, gaping at her. "How's a spider scary? Come on, seriously."

She frowned at his expression. "It's the eight eyes, eight legs thing. Things aren't meant to have eight legs... and there's the fact that the spiders I transform into can kill you within a second."

Lee moved back slightly from her, his eyes raised mockingly. "Don't make me squish you, Maddie. 'Cause I would do it."

Madeleine laughed. "No, you wouldn't. Besides, I don't turn into a spider unless I really, really have to. I'm more of a snake kind of girl."
