Tamika quickly ran down the steps of the schools main entrance and dropped her board once she was on flat ground. It was 1:58PM and at 2 o'clock she was meant to be meeting Jet at the glass lake. In typical fashion, she had completely forgot about it until 20 minutes ago, and did a rush appearance fix and stuff-grab. She pushed her foot on the ground a few times to pick up more speed, but her board was extremely slow and old, so it didn't do her much good. She had a couple of spare minutes now the board was rolling and speed was out of her hands, so she reached into her pocket and pulled a cigarette out of the packet. Lighting it, she started to steer a little, barely avoiding fellow students as she rolled down the path. Reaching a slope, she starting picking up speed which took her by surprise. "Oh lawdy," she muttered, getting herself back on track. The path to the lake became viewable and before Tamika knew, she was rolling along beside the lake itself. About twenty feet ahead of her she could see Jet sitting on the ground playing Elliot. She hopped off her board, and admittedly stumbled a bit, so she could try to be a bit more inconspicuous when she approached Jet. For some reason, Tamika hated disturbing Jet when he was working on a song. She did a sort of soft skip over to him and when she was closer could hear the notes coming out of his guitar. With a smile, she quickened up and sat down beside Jet. "Hey Jet," she greeted happily, giving him a small kiss on the cheek by way of greeting.

If he was an easy blusher his face would be the colour of a tomato right now, but thank goodness he wasn't. "Hey," he cleared his throat and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek back. He grabbed her shoulder and pulled her closer. "How are you hon?" he started to play Elliot again.

Tamika leant back on one of her elbows and looked up at Jet when he started to play Elliot again. "Eh, I'm tired and homesick. So just the usual for school holiday's. What about yourself, doll?" Until this moment, she had forgotten about the cigarette burning away in her hand, then ash dropped off the tip and landed on her finger. With a little hiss she concentrated on healing it then took a draw of her cigarette. "Something old or something new you're playing?"

"A bit of both," he replied staring at the frozen lake. Each year it froze over but you could see right to the bottom of it. Hence it's name. Jet changed the song to the one he made for Tamika but had never told her about it and never would, until she got who it was for.... "Homesick? Hmm," Jet mused. A lot of people got homesick and he had no idea why. Home was...nothing special. Boring. Dank. Rich. Snobbish. Horrible. Ryan's place was more his home than the estate his parents lived in., "Never liked home much, to be honest," He tucked a loose strand of her hair back into it's place.

Tamika gave a sort of distant nod as she stared at the grass by her arm. There was a little bug of some sort crawling about that got her attention. "Yeah, I don't even know how I'm homesick, I don't even have a home." After saying this, Tamika mentally kicked herself. No one but her knew of the current home situation. Will kind of knew, but didn't know everything. Shortly after 'the Swiss incident' as she now named it, Josie had made it perfectly clear that no matter what, Tamika was not welcome back home ever. She smiled at Jet when he fixed a piece of hair for her. "How come you don't like your home?"

"It's too....big and my parents are snobs...I hate being rich. Which is why I went to live with Ryan." he shuddered a little. "How come you have no home? I mean...you do have a home, right?" This girl was getting even more mysterious as the seconds ticked by. And he loved it.

For some reason as soon as Jet said about hating being rich, the song 'Common People' came into Tamika's head. Except obviously Jet could live like common people, because he was one... She gave a little smile at his mention of Ryan, it was for some reason nice for her to think that Jet had someone he was so close to at home. The smile was soon replaced by a frown though when he asked about her home. She gave a slow shake of her head. "My uh, my mum sold our house a while ago, because we were meant to be moving to France when I went home for summer. Then something went wrong and she had to take Mikhail to live with my grandma and there was no room for me there. So pretty much since then I've been homeless, but she didn't officially kick me out until October. I can't go to my dad's house any more either because his brother got left it in the will, even though it was promised to me..." Abnormal? Tamika's family? Naahhh...

Ok. Jet just stared at the cigarette burning in her hand. The thought had occured to him before but he was too chicken to do it before. Now he just didn't care. "Tamika, may I try that?" he asked gesturing towards the burning cigarette. Well you only live once, right?

Tamika furrowed her brow and blinked a couple of times at Jet. He didn't seem like a smoking type. Looking down at the cigarette in her hand, she noticed it had nearly burnt to the butt. "Uh, ok... I'll light a new one though, this is nearly dead." She pushed herself up and reached into her pocket, pulling another cigarette out of the pack of Camel Gold's. Taking her current cigarette out of her mouth, she replaced it with the new one then did a headlight. Tamika then switched the cigarette's over again and handed Jet the new one while she finished the original.

Jet put it to his mouth and warily sucked on the filter, inhaling the smoke into his lungs. He coughed a bit then took another draw. "Hmm, s'not so bad, couldn't do it constantly..." he smiled at her then handed it back. He had tried something new. He lay Elliot in it's case and then walked out onto the lake and turned and smiled at Tamika. "Come and look at this," he held out his hand to her.

Tamika smiled at Jet taking a couple of draws of the cigarette. It was adorable for some reason. She took the cigarette from him when he held it out and stubbed the other one out on the bottom of her show before setting it alight and making it disappear. Putting the newer one in her mouth, she just let it hang there rather than smoking it - a habit she had picked up from her dad years ago. Tamika got up from where she was sitting and walked over to Jet with a curious smile on her face. She took the hand he was holding out and laced her fingers with his, before taking the cigarette out of her mouth with her other hand. "Am I looking at anything specific or the lake? I always end up looking at the wrong thing when people point stuff out," she laughed with a goofy little smile on her face, staring out over the lake.

Jet chuckled. Anything specific? Hmm... "It's up to yourself what to look at really, I'm just wondering where the fish and various other creatures go when the lake freezes," his hand tingled as she interlaced their fingers and smiled, "I just think it's rather cool that when it freezes over it's as clear as anything and doesn't do that white misty thing that other lakes usually do. It's soo clear, like glass," He looked down at her and winked. Her hand was soo warm. Be my girl, be my girl!

Tamika furrowed her brow for a moment before grinning, "That's a good point! I wonder do they just swim to the bottome and live there, or do the school move them or something." She was currently doing her frown-y thinking face, which was usually reserved for Russian as her teacher would think she was scowling at her. Tamika also now noticed what Jet meant about the mist, she hadn't realized before. She gave a soft sigh and looked at the lake that little bit clearer now, noticing it's beauty. She looked up at Jet and asked, "Are you not freezing out here? Presuming it's cold..." A downside of fire...

"Nah, I'm fine," he smiled and waved his hand in dismissal of her concern. He took her hands and spun her around on the ice, beore picking her up so she was at his height. "Tamika, I've been wanting to tell you something for some time now..." he took a deep breath and let it out slowly again; his heart pumping like jack hammer, "Tamika, I'm in love with you and I was just wondering if you, Tamika, would you like to be my girlfriend?" His face was sincere and full of feeling as he asked her this, setting her back on her feet again but holding onto her hands and waited for her answer, the wind blowing both of their hair across their faces. He didn't care, he was only interested in one thing at this moment and time. Her. And her answer.

Tamika glared at Jet and growled a little when he picked her up off the ground. She hated being lifted, but her heart melted a big bit when he started talking. It seemed surreal that he was actually admitting love for her, and actually asking her to be his girlfriend. "Jet, I..." ...Would love to be? ...Obviously will and love you too? She finally got her reply sorted in her head when Jet set her back onto the ground. She shook her head a little to get rid of the hair in her face. It was taking a little time for her to say her reply, because she would feel so horrid once the words were out. "I don't think I'm ready to be in a relationship again... Don't get me wrong, I love you too, but now's just not the right time..." Tamika dropped her hands to her sides and looked down at the ground. She had been right in her presumption about her feelings, and now wished she had never said anything at all. Glancing back up, she bit her lip softly, hoping Jet would understand.
