Over six weeks, and there had still been no retaliation. If she was honest, this made Madeleine quite apprehensive. Orla was a star player in their 'team', and she'd been certain that it wouldn't take Marius long to discover that the woman who played mind tricks on their enemies had been killed by one of them. Saying that, they'd been able to cover their tracks very well - no one would ever find out who had done it. It looked very much like an accidental death. However, Orla was young, and she was probably healthy - it wasn't likely that she would just drop dead. Her colleagues could easily make the assumption that she'd been murdered, and Madeleine was certain that they would be quick to retaliate. But so far, nothing had happened. And this worried Madeleine. Were they using the extra time to plan a bigger attack; one with more impact? Her fear was that they would all start using "modern technology"; machine guns, bombs in particular. Orchid didn't have that kind of technology, and were unlikely to let their teenage students deal with those sorts of things. And a bombing? The school could maybe cope, but it was Cardsdale that Madeleine was worried about. And as another thing for her to freak out about, Lee's family was arriving this weekend. And she was pretty sure that she wasn't going to live up to their expectations. After all, his mother was now assuming that she was some sort of French beauty! They were in for a shock, and Madeleine could only hope that it wouldn't be too unpleasant for them. But she had a feeling that it would be. Sucking on her pen, Madeleine was staring into the fire, instead of on the page which she was writing the plans for the next months training sessions. And there was another thing - there were two new Warriors in the school, and she hadn't even met them yet!

Isolde was now ready. She knew she would do well and not let her team down. She had practised for two hours straight and had gotten very few if any steps wrong. "Hello?" she answered her mobile. "Hey Isolde how are you?" Satine's small voice called from the other end. "Satine! I'm fine honey, how are you?" she asked as she walked from the assembly hall. "I'm fine, missing you though," "Yes, we're missing you so much," another voice chirped in. "Aries! It's great to hear you again!" Isolde's voice went a bit higher with delight. "Ditto, so how is the school going? You enjoying it?" "Yes but it's like a maze and the classes are kind of nerve racking but History is great. There's this boy there called Jude Dorrian and he's very funny and kind," "Oh, you like him?" Satine and Aries asked in unison. "No. I like him as a friend, that's all," "Well, that's good. You're team is missing you loads too," Aries replied. "I miss them, oh here, I better go," she said rather hurridly. "Ok, see you, we'll call again soon," "That's fine, bye," and the line went dead. She turned the handle to the common room and walked in. Surprisingly there was only two people in it and one was leaving. Well at least it would be fairly silent. She walked acrossed the room to the sofa where a girl sat. "Excuse me miss? do you mind if I sit here?" she asked politely.

Madeleine looked up abstractedly from the fire as a girl spoke to her. "Excuse me miss, do you mind if I sit here?" Okay, since when had she asked to be called "miss"? Occasionally she told people to address her as "ma'am", but only as a joke. She didn't think that that should happen... And this girl didn't look like a first year... "No need to call me 'miss'," she said brightly, taking her pen out of her mouth. Bad habit anyway. Her pens were always badly chewed; it seemed like if it wasn't her nails she was biting, it was her pens. "It's just Madeleine," she smiled up. "And yes, you can sit here."

"Ok, thank you Madeleine," Isolde replied. She set down her back with her Irish Dancing gear in it and sat down elegantly. "I'm Isolde, I'm new here," she said sticking out her hand as polietly as she could in the hope that the girl would shake it. Another soon to be friend she hoped. Madeleine...wasn't that her head of group name?

Isolde... Isolde... That was familiar... "Oh!" Madeleine exclamed as she reached forward and shook Isolde's hand. "Isolde Moore, right? You're one of my new Warriors, then. I'm your Head, Madeleine Baudelaire..." And then the thought struck her - in a few years, she'd be introducing herself as Madeleine Norris... That was so weird.

"I thought so," she smiled. Well, that's three people I've made aqquaintices with, so far so good. "So what will we be doing? Training or...?" she stared at her head. The firelight catching her eyes and making them dazzle.

Madeleine relaxed back in her seat again, twisting her pen in her fingers idly. "Yeah, we're doing magical combat at the minute," she said, glancing down at the pen in her hand and watching the firelight as it sparkled in her engagement ring. Smiling the usual secret smile at it, she turned her gaze back to Isolde. "What powers do you have?"

And there it was. The question everybody liked to ask but no one could be bothered to answer. "I have control of the Air and I can bend plastic," she said quietly. "Not very exciting I'm afraid. What're yours?" she asked her eyes suddenly catching the ring on her head's wedding finger. She was engaged. Well good for her! were Isolde's thoughts.

Madeleine smiled, self-consciously covering her ring with her other hand as she followed Isolde's gaze. "I'm a fellow air-bender, a shapeshifter, a psychokinetic and a Healer," she replied, with the same answers she always gave to this. "You'll see it all soon enough; there's a training session tomorrow. Have you any experience with weapons, or -" She bit it off. The last few times she had asked Warriors about their use of explosives, she'd been receiving some very strange looks. It was a reasonable question; but clearly, some found it weird. "Or weapons, yeah," she finished, laughing.

"Weapons?" Isolde asked in a bit of shock, "Not unless a baton counts as a weapon or a spoon? No I'm mostly trained in hand to hand combat and self defence I'm afraid," she smiled feebly. Her parents were uptight about her going to martial arts never mind learnign how to use a weapon of any kind. "But saying that I have taught myself some good power control in the offensive and defensive points,"

Madeleine nodded carefully. d**n, just a month after she'd finished non-magical combat... "Well, that's good, but you can't just rely on your powers... I've just finished training the Warriors in non-magical combat; if you haven't done any before I may need to give you extra training, just to cover the basics. It won't take long, it's not too difficult..." But Madeleine didn't want Isolde to be behind - nor did she want to have to recover everything when she came back. It was better just to put the one-on-one time in, as she'd discovered with several other Warriors.

"I know I can't, sorry. I would have done but my parents are very strict on wepons and everything. I had a hard enough time to convince them to let me go into self defence classes," she frowned. She didn't want to keep evryone back or Madeleine. "Sorry if I've disrupted your schedule," she felt guilty now.

Madeleine smiled. "No, it's okay - it's just my job. And besides, at least you've done a little self-defence. A lot of Warriors who come here have no experience at all." Madeleine hadn't. Shaun had taught her everything he'd learned before she'd arrived, and she was so lucky to have that extra headstart.

Ok now wasn't the time for blushing. "I suppose," she agreed, "How long do you reckon it might take me to catch up, I'm a quick study?" she asked out of interest.

"Depends how your hand-eye coordination is, and your talent at it," she shrugged. "All going well, it shouldn't take too long; it's not that difficult." Of course, it was easy for her to say that, but she meant it. It wasn't. "It's only basics, nothing too elaborate; you'll be fine."
