"No it's true." Ailith exaggerated looking Madeleine up and down, sizing her up. "You might provide a bit of risistance." At that Ailith stood, "Arm wrestle. You and me. Jude picks the ref." She flicked her head towards him.

Madeleine raised an eyebrow. A challenge? Excellent. She reckoned Ailith was an even match, so that was even better. She hated winning all the time sometimes. "You're so on," she grinned.

This was Jude's moment to shine. Jumping to his feet, he ran to the table his homework was scattered across, and in one deft movement, swept it all off the table and into his bag. Clear, and ready, the table stood proudly. The chairs were dragged up, and the station was set. Now, let's see if those showman skills are still there... "Alright, y'all!" he boomed, loud and clear and crisp, capturing everyone's attention in a few short seconds by his loud, commanding voice. "Gather round, gather round... Today, we have Miss Madeleine Baudelaire, no less than Head of the Warriors- and here, we have Miss Ailith Rayner- the challenger..." Everyone was gathering now, pressing around and about in interest. Once he'd assembled a fairly good crowd, he turned to the two girls and smiled. "Basic rules, guys. Elbows must not leave the table. No use of other arms. No kicking- I can see y'all. Don't cheat, and whoever wins, wins for their group." He leaned over the table, and smiling shyly, pecked Ailith on the cheek. "Hence why you gotta' kick her ass." Straightening up again, he spun and faced the crowd. "Guess there's nothing more to say now except- go!"

Ailith beamed at Jude quickly, "Don't worry, I can totally take her." Our Father, who art in Heaven... She took a deep breath and began to concentrate, she leaned across the table, right elbow on the table, feet planted firmly on the ground and her left arm twisted round her back. She opened her palm wide so that Madeleine could grasp it. "Ready?"

Madeleine smiled at Ailith. She was left-handed; Ailith had the advantage here, but she figured that she wouldn't need it. She'd be fine. She grasped Ailith's hand. "Ready," she said, planting her feet and putting her left arm behind her back, before nodding at Jude.

Jude took the competitors hands in both of his own holding them so that they began fairly. "Tension." He spoke clearly, Ailith saw him grin as both the girls tensed, the power was substantial even now. "GO!" He wiped his hands away and the pressure was really on. Ailith thought she would lose it when Madeleine pushed with all her might, but Ailith found her pushed back as hard as she could. Finally they were even again.

Falling, yes I am falling, and she keeps calling me back again... It probably wasn't the smartest thing in the world to listen to your iPod while doing Geography homework (Christ, could this get any more friggin' tedious?), but Josh wasn't about to sit through an essay on how graphite is formed without some form of distraction. Most of his 'work' consisted of looking around the common and musing on completely useless things, and wondering if Maggie had ever gotten that Art homework finished. That girl from battle training, Ailith, was sitting by the fire at the other end of the common room. His eyes kept flicking up from his homework to her, debating on whether or not to go over and talk to her. He really wanted to... but how do you start a conversation at random like that? He sighed and looked down at his work. Two interminably boring paragraphs later, Josh looked up again, and Madeleine was in conversation with Ailith. It sounded like they were in the middle of a mock argument, and he wondered what they were talking about. The firelight was flicking, creating little dots of light on Ailith's hair... Come on Josh, focus! He looked back to his work - and then, a little later, found another distraction. "Alright, y'all!" a guy in his year called in a booming, commanding voice. "Gather round, gather round... Today, we have Miss Madeleine Baudelaire, no less than Head of the Warriors- and here, we have Miss Ailith Rayner- the challenger... Basic rules, guys. Elbows must not leave the table. No use of other arms. No kicking- I can see y'all. Don't cheat, and whoever wins, wins for their group." This should be interesting... Josh closed his file block and dandered over to where the two were sitting, hands gripped. "GO!"

This could take a forever and a half. From the word, "GO!" Jude had realized that Maddox and Ailith were evenly matched. It was slightly scary, actually, to realize that his girlfriend had that much physical strength. Obviously, Maddox was a given. Everyone had always known there was something special about her if she was Head of the freaking Warriors! But Ailith... she was a surprise. Always a surprise. Skirting back into the crowd and blending in, Jude found a couple of spectators he could easily see over the heads of. A guy in his year he vaguely recognized stood beside him; his eyes also trained on Ailith. Jude glanced at him, then back at Ailith and Maddox, both of whom were being spurred on by chants from the crowd. "Go Madeleine!" "Win one for the Spies!" "Impressive, aren't they?" Jude muttered to the boy.

"Scary, more like," escaped from Josh's mouth. Hardcore, Josh, hardcore. "I mean, they've got a height average of about five foot, and yet they could still kick anyone's ass." He vaguely recognised this guy, but he was unsure where from... Hang on, wasn't he one of the guys that Madeleine had kicked out of battle training?

Jude chuckled. "Just imagine what it would be like if they got growth spurts..." He watched the two girls silently for few seconds. "Aren't you in Battle Training?" He recognize the boy; definitely. "What's your name, sorry?"

"Josh," he replied, gazing at Ailith and Madeleine. "Yeah, I'm in Battle Training... and I should probably remember your name. What is it?"

Josh! Ailith's friend. The smile on Jude's face became a little forced, but then, he caught himself. What was wrong with this guy being Ailith's friend, exactly? "I'm Jude," he smiled.
