Should & Shouldn't

[Will Wright]

Will stared at him in shock.
"Is it just me or did you make sense,"
"Hmm, I guess I did,"
"Be proud, guys never make sense, well very rarely," Will muttered as she gazed up at the ceiling pretending she didn't say anything.
"What was that?" Mike quizzed.
"Hmm? Oh nothing nothing," Will smirked at Kira who she was sure had been th only person to hear her.

Kira chuckled at Will's remark. "We're so sexist, the lot of us."
"I blame Jack," Mike laughed. "He just has to turn everything into a competition."
"I enjoy the adrenalin rush," grinned Jack sarcastically. "Because, you know, there's nothing more life-threatening than making derogatory comments about girls when Will's nearby."

Will glared at him for about a minute before thumping him on the upper arm.
"And if you don't stop neither will those!" she replied in a sweet tone which was fake.
Mike was laughing. It was infectious. Even Will and Jack were laughing.
"Haha, I was just remembering the halloween party. Levi isn't so smily anymore. I must say, Lee had some anger boiling up in him for a long time. But Levi did deserve it, what with calling Lee and Madeleine names," she finished sadly.

"He's a prick," Jack agreed enthusiastically. "Lee really did have some issues there- it was almost a struggle to lift him of Levi."
"It's probably a good thing you did, though," mused Kira. "I don't like the idea of what would've happened if Levi had come to his senses and hit back."
"I would've hit him harder," growled Jack. "He's not the only Warrior around. Hell, if Madeleine was back at full strength, Lee wouldn't have had to step in! She can take care of herself," he added, with a note of admiration.
"I hope my Spies are that fond of me," Kira said, and she meant it. One basic principle of being a Head was to be liked. But if Madeleine could do it, surely she could?
Of course, Jack was completely biased by his respect for Madeleine as a Warrior, and his friendship with Lee. Kira didn't much fancy telling him what she thought of his beloved Head. Actually, she was pretty convinced she would lose a friend. Jack had the basics right down to a core- he knew what was important to him, and his group was right up there. Disrespecting his Head was a serious offence.
No wonder he'd waited for a few moments to lift Lee off Levi.

Will smiled.
"I hope my group are as loyal to me as they are to Madeleine!" Will said thoughtfully.
Seriously if anyone did anything like that to her...well she could take care of herself but not for long.
"Seriously that kid is a spoilt bloody brat who needs to have some sense kicked into him. Or at least to make sure he knows that the world doesn't revolve around him!"

"Amen, Will," Jack grinned, giving her what must've been a particularily painful high five. "Amen..."
Kira laughed at them both.

Will rubbed her hand but the pain desipated quickly. The joys of self healing.
"If you kids don't stop raisng your voices you'll be out of here before you cna say Lily!" the librarian was standing over Will as she snapped at them. She looked at all of them but her eyes lingered for the most on Will and Jack.
"Sorry," she whispered. The librarian walked off, "Lily. Maybe someone could give her a taste of her own medicine it's not as if she's keeping her voice down,"
As she said this, it was right on queue. All the books in one shelf, far from where they sat, came crashing to the floor.
"I wonder who did that!" Mike asked.
"The joys of having pyschokinisis," Will laughed as she gave Jack another high five.

"So that's how you get to be a Head," Jack said appraisingly. "Kick-ass powers."
Kira grinned. "There's more to it than that, Jack."
"I've got fire, mood-manipulation and force fields," Jack listed off. "Not too bad off, then."
"I've got water, shadow-control, hypnosis and super-speed, as you well know," Kira replied.
"Four?"
"Four."
Mike laughed. "I talk to animals. Hardcore, right?"
"What about you, Will?" Jack asked her. "Besides for psychokenisis."

"Fire, Molecular Combustion and Premonitions," she smirked.
It was funny seeing Jack and Mike gape at them.
"How come you have four powers?"
"We're heads!"
"Oh,"
"Mike I'm sure you can do more than talk to animals?" Will raised an eyebrow at him.

"Oh yeah," Mike said, "that's just the conversation-starter."
Kira winced. "Oh, god, Mike, you're punning."
Mike went pale. "Oh... my..."
"Prof. Gregg would be so proud."
Mike shook himself. "Urrrgh. Don't do that."
"Mike," Jack prompted. "Other powers?"
"Err, right," Mike laughed. "Okay, my other two powers are teleportation and morphing."

"Coolio. I would love to have powers like those instead of premonitions!" Will said darkly.
She opened the book she was reading and went back to her sentence. Jack appeared over the top of it to see what she was reading.
"How can you read that! It's in German," he demanded.
" It's easy," Will smiled at Kira.
"Wie Geht's?"

"Prima, danke," Kira replied smoothly. "Und ihnen?"
"Gut, ja, sehr gut," Mike grinned.
Jack stared at them all for a couple of seconds. "Um... bon?"
"Urgh, French," mumbled Kira, wrinkling her nose. "Not nice."
Jack laughed. "Oui, le français! J'adore c'est."
"I thought you said you hated it?"
"Non!" Jack cried stoutly, then bit his lip. "Er... non beaucoup."
"No much?"
"I don't know!"

"Augh, you sicken me Jack! French is for wimps!" Will mocked her disgust at him.
"I'm sorry, but German rules, am I right?" she asked the other two.

"You're biased, you German punk," Jack laughed, then leant forward to mutter to Kira. "She is German, right?"
"No, she's Austrian," Kira replied sweetly.
"What's the difference?"
"A borderline."
"She's German, Jack," said Mike wearily.

"No I'm..yeah I am but what can you do?!" Will smiled. She read down to the bottom of the page and closed the book over.
"What age are you Jack......and Mike? I know what age you are," she laughed as she said this to Kira.
