Leia had taken to strolling the garden paths at dawn, that it, when she wasn't on the roof. She loved to watch the sun slowly rise, creating long, dancing shadows from the flowers, trees and shrubs. The cold didn't bother her - she was wrapped up in a hoody, dressing gown and big fluffy slippers. Her breath was misting, but that just added to the scene. Morning dew was dripping from the leaves of so many different plants. Spiderwebs were clearly outlined, wobbling slightly as the spiders scurried around to see what had bee caught overnight. So pretty.
It was really quiet as well, not many students got up at this sort of time. The only sound seemed to be the birds chirping. Leia went down a side path and saw some orchids. Some were in full bloom already, some were beginning to flower and some were just new buds, a new beginning.
It made Leia think about her life before Orchid. Growing up, no matter where they were, they'd always had a garden that had orchids in it. They were Leia's favourite flower. If a new garden didn't have any, her mother would always take her out to get some. The when they got back to the house; Leia and her mum would plant them together - they were her mother's favourite flower too. They did quite a lot of gardening together and Leia loved it, even the weeding. Leia was glad that there were orchids here. It was a constant reminder of home and her mother.
Orchid was a new beginning for Leia. She was like a new bud, getting ready to flower, getting ready to show the world who she was. The gardens here had hardly any weeds, but Leia noticed a few hovering around the orchid buds. Putting her gloves into her pocket, she dug her fingers into the soil and took hold of the weeds. She followed the roots down to the bottom and gently tugged them free.
It was interesting, combining her new life with her old one. It felt nice. Since she had come, she hadn't found a proper opportunity to think about home. Everything had been school related, about trying to settle in. It was nice that she could be more like herself now.
It began to rain, making Leia jump as the rain splashed against her. She liked the rain, it makes the flowers grow, it allows people to live. However, rain trickling inside her slippers was something she didn't like in the early morning. Leia picked herself off the ground and went back along the path towards the school.
