Leia loved to wander around Orchid at night. Everything was silent once you were away from the dorms and Leia loved the solitude. It gives you time to think without interruption. It gives you space to breathe. Leia always felt comforted by the silence. No one can be mean or say nasty things to you. You can be completely yourself. She generally roamed about the school once a week or so. She'd put on her dressing gown and slippers and close the door gently so as not to wake her dorm. She loved to go and look out of the windows and see the stars. She loved the peace.
This particular night however she'd decided to do something a bit different. She'd spent the first ten minutes or so staring at the moon, but then she'd decided to try to tour the whole school. She kept finding new passages, which led to more passages that she didn't know. But the getting lost didn't really matter so much. She wasn't going to be late for anything. Leia had excellent stamina so it didn't matter that she might not get any sleep. She was wandering where she was, possibly near the library when she stepped onto a staircase that she hadn’t seen before. Naturally she went up and to her surprise she found herself on the roof of Orchid. She gasped in delight and surprise. In the moment she had been there she had found her favourite place in Orchid. The view was superb… the mountains… the forest… Leia loved it all. It was raining but this didn’t bother Leia. She loved the rain. She laughed in delight. When she was younger she always loved to run and jump in puddles… that was something that hadn’t changed as she grew up. Rain washed away unpleasant memories, for a while at least. It gave people water and it made things grow. She just loved it. She felt an urge to dance and did so quite happily, spinning round and round.
When she eventually came to a stop, Leia looked around her. She thought she’d heard someone and she hadn’t been mistaken. There was someone standing near the stairs. Leia smiled and wandered in that sort of direction.
“Hello?” Leia said softly. She didn’t want to spoil the mood of the night. “I’m Leia.”
