Physical Description: 5' 6" with dark brown eyes and long brown hair. She has naturally straight hair. She is the mirror image of her mum when she was younger.
Clothing Description: She likes to wear bright colours like blue, green and red. Generally dark jeans but is quite happy in a skirt or dress. She doesn’t tend to worry too much about how she looks – only in certain situations.
Personality: Leia tries to see the best in people. She is usually quite quiet and she doesn’t find silence awkward. She is generally quite a happy person and she doesn’t often get into bad moods. She likes to watch people and read their facial expressions so it can sometimes seem like she is staring, but she does it so that she can understand people’s moods better. She does the same when listening to people – she tries to interpret their mood from their tone of voice. As such she can be very good at reading people if she tries. She can sometimes judge people on first appearances but is getting better at being open-minded.
History: Leia spent her first five years in China with her mother and father. Her mother is Chinese while her father is from Northern Ireland and came over to China on a mission. They fell in love, got married and had Leia. They moved to Europe when Leia was five because of a serious argument which happened between their neighbours and themselves; the police had had to get involved. They ended up moving, not to escape from the police but they found it easier all in all. They travelled quite a bit through Europe, never settling in one place for long. When Leia was nine they moved back to Northern Ireland and Leia learnt English. It was then that Leia found Freedom, the falcon, and discovered her first gift. She was walking with her parents down a country road when she thought she heard a bird calling. She told her parents but they couldn’t hear anything. Leia strained her ears to hear it again and it was then that she first sensed the sound waves. She somehow managed to bring them closer to her and her parents so they could hear the bird as well. At that point thought they didn’t realize that it was a gift. They just thought that she had remarkably good hearing.
When she was twelve, in secondary school she got bullied quite a lot because she was the smallest one in her class. (She had a growth spurt later on) One day it went to the extent that one of the bullies locked her into a room after everyone had gone home and left her there. The janitor didn’t hear her (she hadn’t learned yet that she could cast out sound waves to other people) and the school was locked up for the night. She was already crying, but now she was desperate. She leaned against the door in frustration and fear and was really wishing that she could get through the door when to her amazement she did. She fell through the door and landed on the floor. She was completely surprised and she walked through the locked school door and ran home. Her parents had been worried sick (her mobile had run out of battery) and she told them what had happened. Then she showed them what she could do. They were very supportive and immediately began to research special abilities. Naturally they moved her into a different school where she got on fine. It took them another few years to discover Orchid Hill Academy for the Gifted and sent in an application as soon as possible (naturally after asking Leia if she wanted to). Leia was accepted and went gladly to Orchid. It was only when she had arrived that she discovered that her hearing abilities were a gift and she learnt so much more about the sound waves and how she could manipulate them there. Since arriving she has also discovered that she has perfect vision. Of course she misses her parents from time to time but she is generally very happy about where she is.
Gifts: Leia can pass through any substances – walls, locked doors but it also works that substances can pass through her. Like if someone tried to hit her she would let it go through her (unless she deserved it in which case she would take it like a man). She also has a form of control over air. She can feel the sound waves that people (or animals) make when they talk – the vibrations in the air and she can manipulate them so that they don’t reach other people – i.e. she can have a private conversation in a crowded place and unless she intends them to the people can’t hear her (or each other in some cases) and it also works that she can hear whispered conversations if she wants; she just pulls the vibrations towards her so that she can hear as well. Her third gift is perfect vision. She will never need glasses for a start but this gift also means that she can see at night like it is day and she can see through fogs and that sort of thing.
Pets: She has a falcon which mostly lives in the wild but comes when she calls it called Freedom. She did not name him however. She found him lying nearly dead in a field (he was making feeble sounds which she managed to hear) when she was younger and he had a tag around his claw with freedom written on it. She nursed him back to health and returned him to the wild but he came if she ever called out his name. Since Leia came to Orchid Freedom has taken up residence in the nearby mountains.
Other: She loves to sing and she can play bass guitar. She also loves martial arts and is quite skilled in some branches. She has a natural ability and fondness for gymnastics and dance of any type really.
