Tamika put on her goggles and kickstarted her bike. It was her seventeenth birthday and days before she had just got her motorbike license, so what better way to celebrate than go dirt-biking? She had borrowed Joshua's bike to use herself and was letting Will use Tamika's own. Speaking of which... Killing the bike she pulled off her helmet and walked to the gate of the field. Tamika had decided she wanted to spend her day with her best friend, but said best friend seemed to be running late. As a safety precaution, Tamika had brought along a chest plate, boots, elbow pads and had given Will lightly padded bike trousers a few days before hand to wear. This wasn't exactly normal dirt-biking. As Joshua had befriended one of the farmers with a spare field, he had managed to be allowed to build up mud to make ramps and things like that with a small foam pit in one corner. So today, Tamika intended to teach Will how to whoop-de-doo, nac-nac, and possibly, but probably not, backflip. The two girls couldn't exactly sit gossiping over make up and all that, so this was perfect for them. After grabbing a tin of Rockstar from her cooler, Tamika jumped up onto the fence to sit down and wait. She loosened her own chest plate, it feeling a bit uncomfortable. After a while she heard approaching footsteps and looked up. "Will?" She called out.

Will felt dumb walking in the lightly padded trousers. They made her feel like she was accident prone and to be honest, with what Tamika had planned seemed awesome but likely to involve Will coming off and breaking something. She heard and engine start in the distance. "On the bike already then," she announced to herself. She trudged forward and with each step she took, doubt was replaced with excitement and wonder. Suddenly her slow and lagging feet picked up the pace. The loud engine stopped and since Will was only around the corner she heard the gate rattle and knew Tamika would be sitting on it with one of her usual energy drinks. Will had no idea how she coulkd drink the d**n stuff. "Will?" Tamika called out for Will had statred to walk around the corner after a brief pause. "Hey," she smiled widely at her friend, "How's the the birthday girl?"

Tamika jittered happily and jumped down from the fence when Will came into sight. "Hey," Will smiled, "How's the birthday girl?" "The birthday girl is extremely excited, and terrified and hyperactive!" Tamika giggled. She skipped over to the bikes and picked up the extra safety gear for Will. "Here, I know this seems over the top, but you can't be too careful with what we're going to be doing to day." Will gave her a nervous look, but Tamika just grinned and reached into her backpack. She pulled out a folder with photography in it. "Today dearest, we will be doing..." She flipped through the pages of pictures before finding the couple she was looking for, "The nac-nac, possibly a heelclicker, tripling the whoop-do-doo's. And, if you're feeling particularly adventerous and getting good, a backflip. Up for it?"

Even though Will had seen the pictures she didn't understand a word that Tamika had just said too her. So she pretended, "Awesome, let's go," she walked over to the gear and put it all on, then turned towards the bikes. "Eh, Tammy, which one am I to be riding?" she asked uncertainly.

Tamika set down the file and finished her tin of Rockstar. Will looked kind of amusing in the bike gear, mainly because it wasn't a usual attire for her. She walked over to Will and picker up her old KTM. "This will be yours. Don't worry, it's only an 85cc. I'd feel to guilty if you died on the 125." She picked up the 85 and began checking the fuel and the wires. It seems silly, but they always got out of place quickly, and if you did lose the fuel or even back brake, you're buggered. "So what have you been up to the past while?" She asked while taping some wires.

Erm. "Talking with my brother," she paused thinking about what else she had done but came up with nothing, "And that's pretty much it," Her life was pathetic at the minute. Nowadays she just spent her tending to sick students or the animals and plants of Blueberg Forest. "Oh, I hope you'll lilke your present," she said excitedly.

"Oh yeah, your brother! How's he doing?" Tamika got up from sitting on her ankles and went over to the spare tank of fuel. Some had dripped out of the KTM's tank, not worrying but it was always good to have a full tank. She raised an eyebrow at Will as she balanced the dirt bike on her leg and topped up the tank. "What's my present? Oh oh, I almost forgot too! I brought food and a cake so we can pie out after biking," she grinned.

"Nu uh, missy, not yet. At least not until 8 this evening," she smiled annoyingly, "And yay!" She turned and leaned against "her" bike. It was weird, last time she was on a bike was when her mum had been taking her up and down the street. And now she was going to be learning how to ride one. Not just any bike though. A dirt bike. But her mind suddenly changed to Tamika's birthday present. Between her and Josh and Will borrowing Tamika's phone to make a call the other week to her godparents she, had just happened to flick through her contacts list and found Twitch's number and had stored it to memory. So her and Josh had eventually gotten the hold of him and had talked him in to coming to Cardsdale for her birthday as a surprise. "So, are you gonna show me how to use this thing or are we just gonna yack all day long?" she asked sarcastically.

"We will be riding the bikes, I just want to make sure Adie's ok to run..." Will gave Tamika an odd look. "I call my bike Adie," Tamika grinned. She put the full cap back on the bike and then threw the now sealed up fuel can over to the side of the field. Stepping back, she nodded to herself and then went over to Joshua's bike. "You're good to go," she informed Will as she pulled on her gloves and helmet. Kick starting Josh's bike, she revved the engine and then took off up the ramp, doing a cliffhanger before landing. Circling round, she pulled back up beside Will. "Are you going to get on the bike or just stand there?" She grinned.

"Vell see, I expect me to just know these things but I don't. You never showed me how to start stop and actually ride the d**n thing," she realised now how horse riding was so less complicated than riding a bike. Though the bikes never argued with you. She swung her leg over and sat on the bike. "Now vat?"

Tamika held back a laugh and took off her helmet. She put her hand out to touch a lever by the foot rest. "This is the kick start, just kick it a couple of times to get the engine running. On the other side there is a similar lever, you kick that and pull the lever in front of your left handlebar to change gears. Just in front of the kick start is the back break, and the lever in front of the right handlebar is the front break. The right handle bar is the throttle. Don't pull it too hard or your buggered. Now, put your helmet and gloves on then try to start her up. For the love of God though be careful, that bike's my baby and cost me a bomb."

Will wasn't entirely sure what Tamika had just prattled on about, to her it was just a load of...well, prattle. She donned her helmat and gloves and did what Tamika had told her too, the engine roared to life and made her jump a bit. It had been a long time since she had been on any kind of bike, espcially a motorbike let alone being on one by herself. Why in the hell did I let her talk me into this?! She turned towards Tamika, who had already disappeared but she located her doing tricks. Ok...here goes nothing. Will took a breath to steady herself before gently tapped the accelerator. Mistake. Big mistake! The bike lurched forward and tilted towards the left where it fell and she came off it. She lay there disorientated for a few seconds before picking herself and the bike up. This time she got on and started the bike but did not try to go anywhere with it. She looked over to Tamika who appeared not to have seen her little incident. Instead she just sat there with the engine running waiting for her friend to notice her.

Tamika went along the whoop-de-doo's and was near in tears at the end. She wasn't really good at going over them individually and the bike kept bumping up and hitting her on the backside, which was now numb. She stuck her leg out and curved the bike round, ready to go up over one of the jumps when she noticed Will had stopped. With a frown she rode over then killed her engine. "What's wrong?" She asked, pulling off her helmet.

"You taught me how to start it, but you never taught me how to ride it," she grimaced. Was she ever going to just know how to do something? "Tammy, are you sure I'll be ok, I don't want to ruin your bike on you,"

"Oh right! Sorry," Tamika smiled sheepishly. With the slightest of frowns she glanced at her KTM. "Yeah, you'll be fine once you get the hang of it. It's the only one you could use anyway, smallest engine size. And it took a lot of persuasion form Josh to let me use this. So, yeah, this is how you ride it." She pulled her helmet back on and opened the visor. "Ok, so after you start it, change it into 2nd gear and very gently pull the throttle. Like this." Tamika demonstrated how to ride the bike then curved round again to come back to Will. "Try now."
