[[I'd like to apologise for the rubbish title. I suck at titles, and was listening to Biffy. Put 2 and 2 together and get 5...]]
Tamika rolled slowly from one end of the square to the other. Back and forth, her only other movement either taking a draw or flicking ash off her cigarette. She had waited specifically 'till after dark to come here skating so no old ladies would glare at her, muttering how 'Young ladies should not be doing just idiotic things' and no blokes would feel the need to recount their days of 'extreme' sports with her. Now she was here though, skating just seemed boring. She would have killed for a half pipe, an empty pool, even just a quarter pipe. After an attempt to converse with a very rude ghost of an old man, she did a kickflip, not for the fun of it but because she had pins and needles in her foot that were doing a jig on the edge of numbness. After landing it and getting some feeling to return, Tamika stepped, nay, stumbled off the board and sat down on it in the middle of the square. Lighting a new cigarette, she sighed and rested her head on her palm. Josie? She called quietly in her head. Sweetheart, not now, I'm in the middle of a routine at work. You know them like the back of your hand, you can't even spare me five minutes? No, hon. I'm sorry. Pssh, bye then. After glaring into space for a few minutes, she began giggling and shooting sparks and small flames from her free hand. Don't you even dare, young lady. Tamika scowled. Her funfilled idea had been to set her board on fire and do a bluntslide down one of the rails at the side of the square, partially for attention, partially just to be able to say she did it. Now that idea was dead and buried though. Other countries or not, Josie would probably kick her, er, bum... I thought you were too busy to talk. I'm not too busy to stop you breaking a leg or worse. I could just heal myself. Oh stop being such a bloody child and just behave. As with most teenagers, this brought on a fit of huffiness. Sitting wth her arms folded and cigarette hanging out of her mouth she stared at a tree, burning a thin hole through it. Her ears perked up before she could make it the whole way through. Tamika could hear someone approaching, she just didn't know from which direction. This could be amusing... She hoped to herself.

Nadia was lost, hopelessly lost. She had been trying to find the road back to Orchid for about... well not that long, but after 10 minutes Nadia was fed up; she was cold and wanted to get back to Orchid - she hadn't run into anyone she knew and she didn't want to be a loner. She made her way back to the square and looked for a familiar face, really, any would do, even if it was an enemy (not that she had aquired any that she knew of in the Orchid area). She absolutely hated talking to new people, she's very shy and hardly speaks at all. Even just a face she'd seen in the corridor or somthing. She may not know them but they would be a bit more familiar. She saw a student aged girl sitting down, concentrating on something. Most likely a student from Orchid rather than a Cardsdale resident. She decided to approach, knowing that the person would probably help, and she wouldn't be sent in the wrong direction as she would know if they were lying. It couldn't hurt. "Uh, hi... sorry to bother you... could you possibly point me in the direction of Orchid? I'm new and a bit lost..." Nadia wasn't sure whether to expect an answer or not... the girl seemed to be really concentrating on a tree...

After a couple of minutes Tamika heard the soft patter of footsteps crossing the square, seemingly in her direction. She didn't look up and show her obvious curiosity, as she may then come across a bit, well, weird... The footsteps stopped and Tamika could sense the girl standing beside her. She was nearly through the tree, so she didn't look up just yet. "Uh, hi... sorry to bother you... could you possibly point me in the direction of Orchid? I'm new and a bit lost..." It was at this point that she jumped up from her board and stood across from the girl. "Hey. Orchid is in... That direction, just straight up the hill," she smiled, pointing towards the school. "I'm about to head up if you want me to show you in person?"

The girl suddenly jumped up and faced Nadia. "Hey. Orchid is in... That direction, just straight up the hill," she smiled, pointing along a road. "I'm about to head up if you want me to show you in person?" "Yeah that would be great... I'm Nadia by the way." Nadia thought that she may as well make as many friends as possible, she had decided to try not to be as much of a loner anymore. "So you go to Orchid?"

Tamika smiled when the girl introduced herself, "I'm Tamika." She picked up her board and turned in the direction of the school. "Yeah, I came to the school last September. Did you start at the beginning of this term or just within the last few weeks?"

She smiled as Nadia introduced herself. She was pretty anyway, but when she smiled, her face lit up. She introduced herself as "Tamika". Nadia had never heard that name before, it sounded foreign, but it was really nice. "I haven't heard that name before... its pretty... I started at Orchid at the beginning of term, but I'm still finding my way around... What year are you in?" Tamika seemed really nice... easy to talk to anyway. Nadia was meeting so many new people these days but Tamika seemed to be one of the friendlier ones. She hoped they could be friends.

Tamika gave a small laugh, "It would have been honestly surprised had you encountered it before. And I'm in..." She stopped talking for a moment, trying to remember what year she was in. "Uh, lower 6th I think..." She replied hesistantly, "What about you?"

I was a bit weird that she had to think about what year she was in, but Nadia supposed she had other things on her mind. "Yeah lower sixth too actually. I don't think you're in any of my classes though, unless I haven't seen you before... What powers do you have? If you don't mind me asking that is?"

Tamika thought for a moment, "I think you might be in my english class, but I'm not 100%." After a second she chrugged and moved onto answering Nadia's other question. "I'm a psychic medium, have the Shining, and fire power, which is why I was staring so intently at the tree... What're your gifts?"

Nadia glanced towards the tree indicated, unsure what Tamika meant. She saw a small hole, bored through the tree... smoking slightly. She didn't really know what the other powers were, other than fire but didn't really want to show her ignorance so soon ni their aquaintance. She smiled as she turned back. "I control colours... um... I have perfect recall and I can sense when people are lying.... which can be a bit useful when dealing with people."

Tamika cocked her head to the side, an intrigued but confused look on her face. "Control colors? How on earth does that work?" She hadn't heard of that one, sounded hella interesting.

" Yeah I didn't explain that very well, did I? Um... bascially i can change the colour of things like the sky for instance-" At this point Nadia turned the sky green. Several bystanders looked more than a bit worried at this. Nadia decided that for their sanity she better turn it back to normal. "Or I can block out colour and make it black and whit or even blind people... not permanently but they can't see... like this - " It was much easier to show than to explain. This tim though, Nadia only concentrated the effects on Tamika. She randomly chose purple - it os her favourite colour afterall... And everything turned purple. Nadia allowed herself to see the effects rather than block it ou for once. Yep, everything was purple. One solid colour, blocking out shapes. "It's quite weird but it can be quite useful... in random circumstances."

Tamika's eyes went wide as everything turned purple. She spun round in a circle to look for anything that wasn't but failed horribly. And also managed to fall over because of her trouser legs. As she got up she looked at Nadia in amazement. "How on earth did you discover that one?"

I had taken Nadia awhile to discover how she got that one. Eventually she decided it happened because of a dream she had had. "Well, it's a bit odd really. I discovered it in a dream. I was, uh, having a nightmare about being in a dark hole... I woke up and everything was black. I could feel objects around me, but everything was black. I was terrified. I thought I was going blind. My eyes didn't adjust so I squeezed them shut. When I next opened them, everything was green. Much weirder but a relief that all the light hadn't gone out of the world. "Eventually it faded away, but everything in my room was a different colour. It kept on changing. At that stage I was wishing so much it would stop. It did. If I wasn't concentrating though, things would change colour again. It's taken me a few years to get the control right. Now I have to concentrate to change things. I don't know if anything happens when I'm sleeping though."

"Wow, that sounds so cool. Utterly terrifying, but cool." Tamika was silent for a moment, looking up at the school to see how close they were, there was still a fair bit to go yet. "So, the lie detector thing. Does that not get a bit awkward if peoply lie and you know but can't catch them out?"
