Nadia was heading out of the door, on her way to go and look at the lake. She stopped briefly to let a crowd through the door. She smiled to herself as she remembered her first day at Orchid.
She had arrived in her car, no point in getting the bus or train when she had private transport. Also the benefits of a car were that you had to keep focused, you couldn't dwell on whether people would like you or whether you would fit in. If you didn't stay focused you would crash and quite probably die. Also it put off having to talk to new people for another few hours. She had only stopped once, for lunch because though she was nervous she was really excited about going somewhere that she actually wanted to go.
She had only found out about Orchid three months before the new term was to begin. She was doing some research into schools because though she didn't mind modeling and it paid very well, she yearned for a proper education. She had found Orchid Hill Academy for the Gifted and immediately knew that she had found the place for her. Aside from the excellent reviews the school had received, it looked like a fairytale castle and Nadia knew that she just had to get in.
She had worried about getting into the academy as she hadn't had proper lessons in a while and she didn't have a clue about the factions other than academic that were present in Orchid; hence why she is in the academic group. However the application had found more gaps in Nadia's knowledge. When it came to the powers section, Nadia had no idea what she was supposed to write. It took her several days before she caught on that she wasn't a weird freak, but that her abilities were actually quite normal; even if her abilities didn't match anybody else's, they still had abilities. This was another pull towards Orchid for Nadia.
She had sent in her application, being completely honest as she did not want to ruin her chances of getting in with lies. The response from Orchid's administrator had been speedy and good news. She was welcomed with open arms into the school and she felt so happy that she had started packing almost instantly, before realizing that she still had another few months before she finished modeling. That sucked just a bit. But though time appeared to be going really slowly, it flew past and it wasn't long before Nadia was finished at the modeling academy. She decided to keep their card as it wouldn't hurt to earn a little now and again. It had taken mere hours for her to pack her clothes, books and junk into her car as she had been panning exactly what to bring for months.
The drive to Orchid had taken longer than she had thought it would. It was surprisingly hard for her to find the way... the stupid mountains had thrown her completely. It hadn't said anywhere that she had read about them. Still she asked for directions and made it.
It was sunset by the time she arrived outside the Orchid gates. She had been previously told where to park and found the place without any bother. It was only then that Nadia took a proper first glance of the school. The picture on the internet wasn't half as pretty as the view before her. It could just have been to do with the time of the day too, but still, absolutely gorgeous.
She picked up her bags (and boxes of books) and towed them with help of a trolley to the front enterence. She had to just stand still for a moment, she couldn't believe she had actually gotten to Orchid. It had been her fantasy for many months.
When she felt able to move again she stepped inside and got her first look at the inside of Orchid Hill Academy for the Gifted. It was better than she had ever imagined. And it was so busy...
She had stood still for several minutes, watching all the people crowding through the door and talking about their summers, before remembering to go to reception. She was told there what dorm she was in and that she could head in up there. She was in a daze. She went upstairs and found her dorm before it really sunk in that she was really there... at Orchid...
