Macy lay with her back on her bed, reading over a new letter that had arrived that day. It was from her mother, and even though she had read it many times now, and had memorized it, she still read over it, rolling her eyes as she mouthed the words. She set it down beside her and stood up, shaking off the frost that had grown over her in that short space of time. Macy went over to her chest of drawers, opening them up, and lifting out some clothes. What was her mother talking about? Macy didn't need new clothes, to update her look for the summer. She sighed again, and picked up the issues of Vogue that her mother had sent her, with circles around some articles of clothing that would "...totally suit your new look." Macy's mum was crazy, and she was sure of it. Interrupting her quiet rant, she heard someone enter the room. she glanced around and noticed that it was the head of the Warriors. "Oh, hey. How're you?" She asked, politely. She collapsed down on the bed, letting her skirt flare out around her. "Just got a letter from my mum, there." She said, picking it up, and rolling her eyes.

Battle training would be the death of her some day. It had been going well - it really had been, until that arrow was mis-aimed... There had been blood everywhere, and Madeleine had had to rush Joseph to the hospital wing. He was fine now (Nurse Gornray was magic), but it had been a little ... worrying. And the amount of paperwork left to do was unbelievable. Of course, everyone had immediately assumed that it was Josh the Carer's fault; but it wasn't, it was another Warrior. Poor Josh. Though, to be truthful, no one had said anything about it to him, so it was all okay. She pushed open the door to her dorm, to find Macy, with a magazine. Macy looked up at her. "Oh, hey. How're you?" she asked, flopping down on the bed. "Just got a letter from my mum, there," she added, with a roll of her blue eyes. Madeleine smiled as she went to her bed, taking off her khaki military-style jacket and hanging it from the end of the bed. "I think battle training may kill me before the actual battles too, but aside from that, I'm good. Anything interesting in the letter?" she asked, nodding towards it. Though, from Macy's roll of the eyes, she could probably guess.

"Oh, dear." Macy said, imagining being in the training room at the time. Sometimes, Macy was pleased she as an Academics, she would never survive training every day, volleyball in P.E. was let alone too much for her. "Oh, well, she now wants me to go out and get some new clothes, to get a summer look. She usually drags me out to the shops about now, and throws a bunch of clothes in my arms, and I just wear them, but now, she wants me to actually go out and find them myself. Listen to this, "I was just looking at some photos recently that you sent me, and I'm thinking that your clothes are very outdated, and messy, so I've sent you a couple of issues of Vogue with some clothes that I've circles that will totally suit your new look." Macy reading, using her voice that would mock her mother's high-pitched eccentic voice. "Oh, but this is the best part of the entire letter, wait till you hear this.." She said, scanning the curly writing until she came to point. "Ah-hem. Oh, and darling, that boy in the pictures too, with the different coloured hair, he looks like trouble, go and find a new boy. One with a natural hair colour, in my opinion." Macy stopped reading, and burst out laughing. "You would not believe what she's like, she just speaks her mind, it's terrible. Anyway, who does she think she is, just writing to me, saying that I need new clothes, and new friends! Seriously, I'm not a stupid model, I'm an Academic! Oh my goodness, but anyway. Sorry for the little rant, I would say that she's gone to far this time, but she hasn't cause there isn't much further that she can go. Oh, I'll stop now, and how's life with you?" She asked, lying back down on the bed, to stare at the celeing.

Outdated? Messy? Madeleine frowned. "Well, I wouldn't call your clothes any of those things, if it helps. I've alwaysl liked how you dress..." So did everyone in their dorm, she was sure. After all, Kira had been shopping for her formal dress with Macy, had she not? And anyway, just look at the skirt Macy was wearing now. Outdated and messy were not the words for how nice that skirt was. "Still, you might find something nice in there," she said, gesturing at the copy of Vogue. "They can have really nice stuff." Madeleine sat down on her bed, running her hand over her lower forearm automatically, unable to stop imagining an arrow through her arm. There had been perfectly clear entry and exit wounds, too... "And you should tell her that all of the guys here can be kind of dangerous," she smirked, pulling off her boots. "It's called powers. Having a boyfriend who can shoot fire from his wrists or pull knives from his nails kind of amounts to trouble really, doesn't it?"

Macy laughed agreeingly with Madeleine's statement. "Yeah, my mum just dosen't get it. But she dosen't really have the best choice in men, anyway." She said, not thinking. "Oh, that sounds horrible. But is true, you wouldn't believe how many times she's had her heart broken. She just annoys me when she's like this, that's all." She sighed, to get it out of her system, and then looked back up, with her annoyence gone. "Hey, we should go shopping, or something, then. Like, I know there's hardly any shops in Cardsdale, but we could go to the Heel-Toe or something. Oh! I just thought! We should get Kira and Will together with us and even other girls, and we could have a clothes-swap! I've done it once before back home, we all get together, like a sleepover type thing, and we all bring our old clothes, or ones that we don't want, and we all swap them, and find things we like, that other people don't want anymore! Yes, I know it's hard if we're all different sizes, but you can usually find atleast one thing that you like! Ooh, and you get hot chocolate, and nachos, and marshmallows, and you have your nails done too, and have other people put up your hair! It's so fun! It's like a total girl's night. Oh, that'd be so fun!" Macy said, giggling, already picturing what it would be like. Yes, it may never happen, but she could dream. "Oh, and I could bring the copies of Vogue, and burn them! Hmm..or rather, use them to, you know, put together a new style. We could mix-and-match. It'd be a great laugh!" She continued, more talking to herself now. She looked up at Madeleine with excitement, but also not sure of what'd she say to this.

Madeleine laughed. "D'you know, a friend of mine held a party like that, but I didn't get to go..." One of the few non-gypsy friends Madeleine had managed to make before coming to Orchid. Of course, they'd moved on before that friendship had been able to stick properly... when Madeleine had told to Lee about relationships being broken thanks to how often they moved, she hadn't ruled out any form of relationships. "That would be fun," she mused. "And none of us have exactly the same taste in clothes... so it would be interesting. Yeah, I think I'd like that. Shall we talk to the others about it?" Though, Madeleine had never really been very good at "girl's nights". As a child, you were more likely to find her playing some form of sport with the boys than dressing up, and as she got older, where other girls would have been experimenting with pastel eyeshadows and lipglosses, she ignored that. Until she hit her teens, of course, where dramatic blacks would have been seen frequently on her eyes. Not so much anymore, though a light sweep of eyeliner and a little mascara were still present. But having your nails done? Madeleine looked down at her hands, where the nails were bitten to the quick, and hid a smirk.

Macy giggled, clapping her hands together. "Yeah! We should do it later, when everyone is in bed later. It really would be so fun. We can talk to other girls tomorrow at breakfast, or during classes, or something, to see if a couple of people would want to come over." She said, taking of her socks and flexing her toes. She sighed, and ran her fingers through her hair, relaxing. "I was thinking that we could possibly do it in the Common Room, but that'd probably annoy the other students. If we do do it, then we could rearrange are room, and make it all nice. Well, nicer, it's already lovely. If you ignore, well, the clutter." She said, eyeing the jumper that was lying on the window seat, the jeans that were hanging out of a drawer, and the books that were scattered over - wait, no, they were Macy's. She laughed, and kicked her feet with excitement. "Oh, so, what are you doing over the summer?"

Madeleine laughed. "It's not that cluttered." Honestly, cluttered it was not. Macy should have seen the state of Madeleine's room in the trailer she used to share with Shaun... Actually, scrap that. She should have seen the state of the whole trailer. In response to Macy's question, she answered. "I'm going home for a little bit; my parents are heading up to where my grandmother lives, and she wants Lee and I to go so she can meet him. And Lee said something about going to meet his family, but nothing's set in stone," she answered, hugging her knees. "You?"

"Ooh, meeting the family." She said, laughing. "Well, I'm possibly going to Spain with my mum and her boyfriend, which won't be that fun. Like, imagine me sitting on a beach, doing nothing! I wouldn't be able to stand it, I'd probably run away from them, and go find an art gallery, or a library, or something. Somewhere inside, that won't cause attention to the weird girl who is actually melting in the heat. Like, I know tht I can't really feel heat, but if I get too hot, then my ice system goes kinda crazy, and melts, so I always look like I've been drowned in the pool." She said, giving a smug smile to herself. She didn't say anything for a minute, thinking. "Hey, you know what? I thought of a nickname for you the other day, but I forgot to tell you. You totally suit it. Mimi! Think about it - Mimimomimi!" She said, bursting out laughing. "So, Mimi, how's life?" She managed to say though her laughs. "It's totally perfect for you. A little sweet girl name, for the toughest person I know!"

Mimi?! Well, she couldn't say that it wasn't original. Maddie, Maddox, Madel, El, Ellie (hadn't lasted, she'd given him such a glare), Mad, Mad Hatter (bloody Jace...), she'd been called by all of them... but Mimi... It was strange how she could get saddled with nicknames that were male names, and then get nicknamed one of the most girly, flimsy names ever... She grimaced, but with a hint of amusement at Macy's laughter. "Well... okay. I have to tell you, no one's ever called me Mimi before... ever. Ever. And I've been given some weird nicknames..." Macy was still in hysterics, which made Madeleine's grimace twitch into a smile (turn that frown upside down...). "Alright, fine!" she smiled. "Call me Mimi, then. I just have to think of a good nickname for you, then..."

It took Macy a few minutes to calm down. "Oh, I don't have any nicknames. I don't know why, you could get Mac, or the whole Macy's department store thing. I don't know, people just don't do it." She, sighing. She looked around, and then laughed a bit again. "Oh well, I'm not complaining." She smiled. She heard something at the window, and she stood up, and saw it was her companion, Gypsy, in her usual form of a cat. Gypsy had been out, flying around the forest as a crow, while Macy was in her classes. Macy went over, and opened up the window, and let her in. Gypsy transformed into a sparrow and flew over to her bed above Macy's, changed back into a cat, and lay down. Macy opened up her drawer, and took out a box of dry cat food and poured some into a bowl beside Gypsy. Gypsy looked up for a second, but seemed uninterested. "She's probably caught something outside, and isn't hungry." She commented quietly. "Oh my goodness, do you realise that it's almost a year since we became Heads? Since I was kidnapped?" She asked, only realising it suddenly. It was almsot a year since she was kidnapped, held in that terrible place. She still hadn't recovered from it.

Madeleine was watching Gypsy refusing her food for a moment, absentmindedly wondering where Mocha was, when Macy's voice broke through her thoughts. "She's probably caught something outside, and isn't hungry. Oh my goodness, do you realise that it's almost a year since we became Heads? Since I was kidnapped?" She nodded slowly, her mind automatically jumping back to the day she'd found Macy in that cell, battered and bruised... Flinching slightly, she responded. "Yeah, it's... it's strange. Sometimes it seems like only a few weeks ago, but a lot of the time it feels like so much longer ago. I can't imagine what this year would have been like had I not been a Head." Had Levi been made Head. She still thought about him, wondering where he'd gone after his expulsion, what he was doing, did he still believe in Orchid's cause - and most importantly, how he was feeling now that his sister was gone. Did he feel like she had when Shaun had died? Immediately, her stomach turned leaden and contorted with guilt as it flowed through her, thick and fast... She'd never be able to forgive herself for that. Not only had she taken a life; but she'd done to Levi what had been done to her - and even if it had been Orla that had killed Shaun in the first place, she could feel no justice, no sense of having avenged Shaun out of this. It had nothing to do with revenge - she'd just lost control, and in losing control, had stolen a life that had so much ahead of it. She'd stolen a daughter, a friend, and a sister in cold blood. And that was something that no one could ever forgive.

Macy sighed, pulling her knees up to her body, setting her head of them. "Atleast classes have slowed down a little." She said. Maybe this was a little off topic, but Macy felt that talking about her kidnapping was still a little hard for her. "I love nearing the end of term, we don't really do too much work. On Friday, Professor Penn said that we might be watching a video in Ice Control this week." She said, smiling. "Although, it'll probably be a documentary on the artic, or something, keep on topic. Oh, hey! Should I try to get us to be in the same shapeshifting class next year? We weren't in any of the same classes this year." She said, thinking. "Do you want something to eat?" She asked, opening up her middle drawer, bringing out a unopened packet of cookies. She opened them up and set them inbetween them, taking one, biting it. "But it might be...interesting being in the same class." She said, between a bite.

Madeleine shook her head at Macy's offer of food. "No, thank you. But it would be great if we were in the same class this year, wouldn't it? Do you think you can get us placed in the same class?" After all, there were so few people in her shapeshifting class. It had started off as a reasonably sized class, but with the battle casualties, and people being pulled out by their terrified parents, the numbers had diminished hugely. In fact, they would probably merge the two classes anyway.

"Yeah, we can probably get put in the same class, like, if we ask nicely. Anyway, we're heads, I'm sure they'll do it for us." She said, smiling. "I don't think they'll disapprove of us, we're good students! Well, I am, and I hope you are..." She said, raising her eyebrows. She smiled, and looked down from her bed, to the sprawl of books and the magazines that were sitting on top of them. She noticed one of them that was lying open, and she tilted her head, looking at the picture on it. "Hey, you should do you hair like this.." She said, lifitng it up to show Madeleine the picture of the model, who's dark hair had been twisted into long curls, and it had all been placed into a clip at the back, with some parts falling out. "It'd look lovely on you, your hair has a really good texture." She said, studying it.
