Russ chuckled, but his face darkened for a moment. "Yeah. They all are, y'know. Gypsy girl who rose up to be Head... she's been the pride of every camp." Not that she'd made that information public by the time he'd arrived. He was pretty sure they wouldn't speak of her in just as glowing terms if they'd known that... "I haven't told her that, though. Don't want her head to swell now, do we?"

"Don't worry," Lee smiled, thinking back to a conversation they'd had not that long ago. "I'll find a way to deflate it."

He laughed. "Careful, though. She might just find a way to get you back for it painfully." As if she'd heard him, she stirred in her sleep, her head tilting and waking Satan's Spawn, where it hissed in her arms. Taking the opportunity, Russ grabbed a cushion from the chair beside him and chucked it at her. "Oi, get up, lazy cow."
The bright blue cat smirked at her, and Madeleine felt something soft hit her head, dragging her out of the comfortable land of sleep. Her eyes opened, and she found Russ smirking exactly like the cat had been. "Oi, get up, lazy cow." "Oh, go screw," she sighed, rubbing her eyes tiredly, trying to rub off the last traces of sleep. "When did I fall asleep?" "A while ago." Madeleine sighed sleepily again, pulling herself up into a sitting position while trying to make sure she didn't move Mocha, who looked as though she had been sleeping too. As she sat up, she saw Lee in the armchair beside her. Aw, dammit. He and Russ had obviously been talking... "Oh no," she moaned. "Tell me you two weren't talking about me, please."

"B*tching," Lee said, perfectly seriously, nodding at Russ. "We both hate you, clearly, and we've formed a lasting pact of this hatred against you." Then lowering his voice, he nodded at the cat. "Er- don't suppose, Russ, we could start by taking out that?" The cat hissed at him, just like it always did, and just like he always did, Lee cursed himself for buying it.

"Gladly," Russ agreed darkly. "Hey!" Madeleine protested, pulling Mocha closer to her, where she purred. "You wouldn't dare. And what did she ever do to you?" Russ smirked. "D'you know, Madeleine, you're becoming one of those besotted parents. The ones who think their child is a complete angel when really it's an obnoxious evil brat?" Madeleine shook her head. "Mocha is not the proverbial obnoxious brat." "No, she's the devil's daughter." Madeleine snorted. "If you touch the cat, Jake gets it. And both of you can give up any hope of fathering any obnoxious brats of your own." Russ raised an eyebrow in Lee's direction, and Madeleine's eyes immediately narrowed suspiciously.

"Ankle-biter," mouthed Lee. "Maddie, come on, put down the cat. She's looking at me." Indeed she was; her large blue eyes seemed to be growing wider as she stared- well, no, glared at him- an easily indentifiable threat- a thing that often came between herself and her armchair in the form of a hug. She was a posessive thing, she was.

"How you cope in the enemy camps, I don't know," Madeleine muttered. "She's not looking at you; she's a cat. It's not as though she's plotting to murder you in your sleep or anything." For some reason, Russ looked as though he was trying very, very hard to stifle laughter.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Lee edged away slightly, as Mocha stretched out her claws luxuriously. "My mother always used to tell me that cats would suck your breath out while you slept if you weren't careful."

Russ couldn't supress the snort this time. Madeleine rolled her eyes. "She will not suck your breath out while you sleep. And you're going to need to get used to her at some point; you'll have to live with her twenty-four seven, won't you?" Russ chuckled. "Luck of the Irish, huh?" Madeleine smiled, picking Mocha up and setting her down on the ground, where she looked up, her blue eyes tinged with hurt, before lazily stalking across to the rug in front of the fire, where she leisurely stretched out on her side, basking in the warm glow of the orange flames. Turning back to Russ and Lee, Madeleine narrowed her eyes. "So what were you talking about, aside from plotting to brutally murder my cat?" Russ glanced at Lee, before shrugging. "That's about it." "Oh, really?" His face suddenly broke into a bright, sly smile. "Actually, you just interrupted me in asking Lee if he plays Dungeons and Dragons. Do you, Lee?" Madeleine groaned, throwing back the cushion that Russ had thrown at her. "Russ, get to bed." "Was that an order?" "Just go away," she said, shaking her head. As he left, she turned around to completely face Lee. "I'm so sorry about that."

"It's okay!" chuckled Lee leaning forward and pressing his lips against hers. "The truth is... well, I do." And with a wink, he got up, and headed out the door after Russ, with the strangest feeling that Madeleine was going to be more than a little confused for the next while.
