"If you say so..." he shrugged, tossing his own riding gear to the ground. "We'll just go find out where the wild things go..." Kicking Clarisse into action, the horse reared upwards and dashed forward into a mad gallop across the fields. With a yell of laughter lost to the wind, Jude urged his horse forward and round and round the fields, calling back to Will as he rode- "RACE Y'ALL!"

"YOU'RE ON!" Will flew past Jude at the speed of lightning. Smaller horses were better over a short distance than bigger horses. Kilty galloped on ahead with Will stangding up in the stirrups, so she didn't fall on his back and so that he didn't have much weight on him. She jumped over the highest gate into the other field and over the lake and slowed down to a halt. "I beat ya!" Will shouted as Jude came up behind her, "I guess you forgot the small horses are better over short distances," She frowned and shook her head slightly from side to side in mock dissapointment.

There. Now she couldn't doubt her own riding capabilities. "I guess I did," grinned Jude sheepishly, hanging his head. "Beginner's mistake. Sometimes you forget the basics." Kilty was a fast enough little horse anyway. There was no reason for her to believe that Jude had let her win. Actually, he may not have needed to. She was pretty goddam fast. Still, better safe than sorry. Kicking Clarisse, Jude started off at a canter towards some hills. Would it be stupid to try and do a handstand whilst his horse was cantering down them? Probably. That's why he sort of wanted to try it.

Will stood there and watched Clarisse canter up to the hills. "If you know some tricks, show them to me!" Will shouted after him. She got off Kilty and pulled him over to the lake to see if he wanted any. He didn't. Well as they saying goes.. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink! She walked Kilty over to one of the log jumps and got back on him.

Okay, that was just an open invitation. Reigning Clarisse back into a canter, the two slowed down as they circled the edge of the lake. As Kilty hovered by its side, Jude waved wildly to Will, until she looked up. Giving her the thumbs up, Jude jumped to his feet, so that he was standing on his horse as it cantered along- and bowed. Jumping back into the saddle, he returned, laughing, to Will's side. "That the sort of tricks you had in mind?"

"Aye, why not." Will said slowly because she was so stunned by what Jude had just done. She would never have been able to do that even if she tried... "That's....that's....wow!" Will stammered.

Jude hung his head in appropriate modestly. "Sorry, I'm in the habit of showing off those tricks..." It did come as a habit. Only the pushiest, showiest performers attracted the biggest crowds. Their numbers swelled with his head, and in performance-mode, Jude knew exactly how to work a crowd. Besides, there had always been something a little stunning about a bold nine-year-old boy standing up and declaring he was the greatest horse-rider that ever lived. "It's not that hard... really, it's not," he shrugged.

Will gazed at him. "Teach me?" Will followed him very closely in the eyes. She wanted to learn. That was big for Will. She never had an interest in learning anything unless it was something she could put to use. Learning stuff about horses and what you can do on them was one of those things. "Please?"

"To bow?" he frowned at her. "Or to curtsey? Y'know, considering y'all are a girl..." As the words left his lips, Jude realised immediately there may be one other problem... he didn't know how to curtsey! It wasn't exactly something he'd ever needed to know before... and it didn't look hard... All he needed was a skirt and to cross his legs as he dipped his neck... Oh, hell no.

"Nuh uh, silly...to stand up and all other tricks you do!" Will gave him a push in the arm, "Just cause' I'm a girl, doesn't mean I can't do it, y'all know what I'm sayin'?"

ooc: How do you know Jude can do more than that trick...?
"Okay, don't say 'y'all'," Jude cut in quickly. "Because... you're not Texan. You're German. So be Germany! And ow." He rubbed his arm pointedly, even though it hadn't really hurt that much. Another student within a week?! Maybe Jude should learn not to hang about with people who could ride horses. Okay, so the first time had been an offer on his part. He really felt Macy needed it. But if word got out through Will he could do all this stuff... Who knows what could happen? "I can show you a few things," he said, "but remember, it's no big deal. It's just a few things I picked up over the years. Yeah?" In the distance, around the stables, Jude could see a faint figure appearing through the low-hanging mist. He frowned as he watched its progress towards them, then turned back to Will. "Can you fall off a horse without hurting yourself?"

((He's a Texas boy... duh! lol))
Will followed his gaze over to the figure moving towards them. She looked at Jude who looked a bit uncomfortable to her and he had a frown on his face. "Can you fall off a horse without hurting yourself?" Will looked at the figure and then back to him, "Erm, well I haven't hurt myself falling off a horse yet, well not majorly, but I've never tried falling of intentionally..." she paused and then sighed,"Look you don't have to show me any if you don't want too...I don't mind," She was being truthful. She didn't want him to do something he didn't want too. "I wonder who that is?"

(('Texan' tis the singular...))
The figure was moving closer now, but Jude still couldn't quite see him properly. Was it a student? It looked like a teenager at any rate... "You're fine," he smiled at her. "Can you try falling off intentionally? Set off at a canter like this..." He kicked his horse and it reared up, and they started along. He showed her exactly what he'd shown Macy- to slide and roll. "See?" he smiled. The figure had stopped now, staring at them both, but even from where they were standing Jude's enhanced hearing presented him with a low whistle.

Will followed Jude's intructions and nearly had it the first time. She was determined and did it again and did properly. "Seriously who is that?" Will asked as she stood beside Jude and then curiosity got the better of her and she went up to the guy. "Who are you?"

"Don't recognise me then, Will?" Lee smiled at them, pulled down the hood of his jacket. Apparently, he'd been expecting rain. Jude relaxed the moment he saw him, cantering over on Clarisse. "What are you doing here, Lee?" he laughed. "I've never seen you down at the stables before..." He stopped suddenly, and did a retake. Lee was here- outside of the school, and away from Madeleine. Not only that... but he was smiling. Jude stared at him- but there was no mistaking the change. Lee was holding his head erect once more- his back straight and a broad beam lighting his features. Jude cleared his throat. "I... I don't believe it. She's awake?" Lee's laughter was all the answer he needed. Jude gave a cry of glee, jumping down from his horse and pulling Lee into a strangled hug. After a brief pat on the back, both guys leapt back from each other, muttering their apologies and clearing their throats loudly.
