Macy sat beside Steve, eating a bowl of Cornflakes. Steve was beside her, poking a fried egg with his fork, looking suspicious. His hair was slightly blueish, and a large feather sat behind his ear.
"Are you okay?" Macy asked him, while she poured some sugar on her cornflakes, trying to use it to ignore the taste of the mushy cereal.
"Um...yeah..." He pushed the egg away from him, and took a sip of some orange juice.
Macy frowned at him, and pushed her bowl away from herself, as well. Steve took out a notebook, and a pencil from under his chair.
"Um, Macy, would Gypsy mind if I sketched her?" He asked her, looking at the black cat, sitting in the seat next to her, licking her paws.
"No, I don't think she'd mind." She glared at her cat, who appeared to sigh, jumped up on th table, and sat in front of Steve.
"Thank you, Gypsy." He said to her, rubbing her ear with the pencil.
While Steve drew her companion, Macy picked up a book from under her seat, and opened it at a bookmarked placed.
"Ritzski!" Someone had come over to them, and they had seemed to be so engrossed with what they were doing, they hadn't noticed the black haired girl standing by them.
Macy looked up and didn't know the girl, but she looked like a Warrior.
"Oh, hey, Anke." Steve replied. Without being asked, she sat down in front of them. She had dark, brown eyes, straight, black hair was wearing a black t-shirt, an un-zipped jacket and jeans. No-one said anything for a bit, Steve had gone back to drawing Gypsy, and the girl was...staring at him.
Macy cleared her throat, waiting to be introduced.
"Oh, Macy, this is Anke. We trained together the other day. Anke, this is my friend, Macy." The girl half-smiled, half-raised-her-eyebrows. Macy smiled at her, but Anke looked away.
"Oh, wow, Ritzski, that's amazing!" Anke said, looking at the picture of Gypsy he was finishing. Gypsy had gotten up and went back to Macy's lap, when Anke had come over.
"Thanks, but I don't think it's that good." He frowned at the picture.
"Oh, no, it's really, really good. I could never do that...hey, can you teach me how to draw?" She asked, leaning over to him. Macy felt like she didn't exist.
"Yeah, I don't care." He replied, his hair fading from the usual green colour.
"Aw, that'd be great." Anke said, putting her black hair behind her ear. Macy noticed her accent, an Irish one. It wasn't too strong, maybe she didn't actually live there.
The girl giggled a bit, smiling. Steve was still frowning, his eyes fixed on the page. Macy realised that she was staring at Anke, and looked across the room. The place was getting emptier, as people left to go to class.
"Um, Steve, we better go." Macy said to him, breaking the silence.
"Oh, yeah. I'll, um, see you around." He said to Anke, lifting up his things, and pushing the chair back into the dinner table.
"Bye, Ritzski!" She called over to him while the left the hall.
When they got into corridor, Macy looked at Steve, but he didn't look back at her. His eyes stayed on the ground. She wanted to say something, but couldn't think of anything. The silence said it all.
