About the Groups

[Macy Deltine]

Orchid Hill Academy is proud of its group system of the Academics, Carers, Spies and Warriors. This is a brief view of them, explaining their history and aims.

Academics

The Academics was first formed when the Spies were formed, three years after the school's opening. The first head was Oliver Timber, who was originally voted as the group head. For many of the heads after that were voted by fellow students until the head master at the time, Victor Hoodham decided that it was better if he choose them himself. He chose Peter Dixon, as girls weren't allowed to be heads then.
The first female head was Morgan Finch who was picked in 1900. There was some uproar from people, but the headmaster insisted that they needed change.

The Academics are the brains of the school. They are passionate about the history of the school, and the old ways. They are good behind-the-scenes, in the workings of the school but have showed great courage and skill when they are needed. They know about the past, and pave the way for the future.

Carers

The Carers were the last of the groups to be created. It was first created by the sister of the forth headmaster, Emmy Robyn (nee. Hoodham) who thought that many of the students wanted to learn how to care about animals, other people and the school. The first elected group head was Ben Goodwill, who went on to be the founder of London Royal Hospital.
When the headmaster began to choose the group heads, he chose Wilmer Harte, but was not a wise choice. Wilmer realised that his passion lay with the other army and betrayed the school by giving away information and soon joining them.
The first female leader was Dhea Runes, who first opened the new Hospital wing during her leadership.

The Carers are the hands of the school. They are in charge of the well-fare of the school, the students and the animals that inhabit the grounds. They are the healers, the ones who put others before them. The Carers are key to the school and keeping it safe, and make the reputation of the kindliness and welcoming to all creatures, that the school has thrived in for so many years.

Spies

The Spies were formed with the Academics by Professor Jon Farr, the first vice-principle of the school. The first elected head was Elijah Jordan, who was known for his skills of finding out information, and was very trustworthy. He was unfortunately killed during his time at Orchid Hill and was proceeded by Francis O'Connor.
The first head chosen by the headmaster was Richard Johnson, who was picked at the beginning of the war. He was fulfilled his role by getting information that put the school ahead of the enemy armies.
The first female head was Joanna Steel, who went on to be one of the first female intelligence officer for the government.

The Spies are the eyes and ears of the school. They are on the political side of things and are often needed for negotiating matters, or getting and passing information to and from people. They have often been described as 'The Shadow Group', because they seem to be able to walk in the shadows without being noticed. They are a very strong, close group who are determined to keep the school safe.

Warriors

The Warriors was the first group created. It was created by the very first principle, Sir Horace Hoodham who wanted them to protect the school. At that time there was no official head until the Academics and Spies were created. The very first leader was Ronald Robinson who challenged the teachers to provide them with more tools to train with.
The first leader to be chosen was Micah Turner, who was also the first leader who was made to take the school into battle. His father was also the head of the Warriors, and Micah had inherited his father's skills.
Since then the warriors were formed, they had to go into battles many a time, but they are always led though by their spirit.
The first female head was Parmida Izumi who, like the heads before her, had to lead the school into battle. But Parmida, by working with the Spies was able to have a truce with the enemy armies.

The Warriors are the face of the school. They will fight for the school, for it's ways and name. They are very strong and fierce group who have also giving the school its reputation of not giving up. They are known to have each other's back and are always ready to fight for the school.
