Bright and Dull

Will smiled at Kira as she watched her get the weapons out. The swords and maces along with other deadly weapons.
She got up and walked acrossed to the other end of the hall and started to balance on the beam.
"So what're you gonna be doing with them?"

Kira turned around, and with a rare feeling of pride she picked up one of the daggers.
"Spies and Warriors deal in the same sort of weapons," she said softly, moving down to the opposite end of the hall.
Down at the other end, she'd already set up several targets; they stood there, rigid, and tall, and clearly marked from the last Spy session.
"However... Warriors are trained to use these weapons in close contact, in preparation for battle."
Kira felt a surge of strength. She rarely showed off her skills to anyone outside of her group... but ever since she'd been made Head, everything she good do marginally well before had shot up in standard. She wasn't being arrogant.
It was a fact.
"But Spies don't want to have to fight. If they're going to immobolize someone..."
Her arm swerved forward; the blade sailed loose and flew, with deadly accuracy, down the hall.
Bang. Bullsye.
"... we want to do it as quickly as we can, with as little hassle as possible," Kira beamed, turning back to Will.

Will watched the whole thing upside down and she was very impressed.
"Whoa, that's amazing Kira. I couldn't do that even if I tried!" she said as she hopped down from the beam.
"That was soo...soo. deadly, unbelievably, accurate...could I maybe try?" Will asked as she walked up to beside Kira.

"Um... if you like," Kira said, a little bemused, but picking up another, lighter dagger all the same. "It's not too hard... just copy me."
She mimed throwing the knife a couple of times.
"... and just let go there-" she spun around and handed it to Will. "I'll move the target a bit closer for you, and then you can have a go. Don't feel bad if you don't get it the first time- it takes a lot of practice..."
She walked across the hall, and moved the target accordingly.

Will took the knive and handled it for a moment or too. It was fairly light but not to her liking.
She followed Kira's movements as best she could.
Fling...
It soared through the air and hit to the top right somewhere about two rings of from the centre.
"Close enough," Will said with a shrug.

Kira laughed, moving forward to remove the blade.
"Want to try again?"

Will smiled at her.
"Ok," she took the blade and tried again...only to find it clattering to the floor.
"No fair," Will pouted playfully.

Kira giggled, picking it up once more, and moved over to the target, dragging it slightly closer.
"Shall we make it third time lucky?" she winked. "Honestly- that doesn't count as cheating."

"Hopefully," Will smiled.
She twirled the knive around in her hand a couple of times before lining up as best she could for the target.
She took a deep breath, "Ok, here goes nothing!"
She closed her eyes not wanting to see what a mess she had made of it.

Kira clapped her hands, laughing as Will closed her eyes. The blade sailed, and by a stroke of luck, hit the target. Just about. But maybe she wouldn't say that to Will.
"You did it!" she laughed at her friend. "Go on- it's safe to open your eyes."

Will turned and as she did so, she opened her eyes.
She did.
"I did it!" Will jumped up once and down from her happiness. She hugged Kira and twirled.

Just then, Kira heard a noise, and a pattering of feet coming towards them; signalling the first Spies arriving. Kira sighed, turning back to Will.
"Sorry," Kira bit her lip. "But I'll see you later, yeah?"

Will frowned. She had been having a good time.
"Sure," Will sighed and grabbed her things and left. Well at least one good thing came out of it.
She felt a hell of a lot better than she had.
