Macy sat on one on the slightly damp, wooden benches, facing a small hedge, revealing cast fields on the other side. Beside her was Kira, who seemed to be day-dreaming. It was Saturday morning, and Macy had suggested going for a walk in the fresh air, and they had stopped for a rest at the train station. "Excuse me..are you getting on the train?" A ticket conductor, who was walking up and down the platform. "No, we're waiting for someone..." Macy lied. He nodded and then walked into the small room, probably to get some tea. It was becoming vastly colder recently, and Macy was rapped up in the long, dark red coat, and scarf. "Soo.." She said, trying to break the silence. "How's your friend?" She asked, thinking back to the camping trip where Parmida had threatened him, even cut his neck. She had then took Kira by the throat, and burnt her too. It had completely shocked everyone.

Wouldn't it be funny if Kira one day woke up, with a pair of wings just like Lee's? Except maybe hers wouldn't be quite as black, and scaly. Kira saw herself with wings as blue as the sky- soft, feathery- but powerful. And then, if she had wings, she could fly over Cardsdale, and find Deron, where she'd take him flying up and up to the highest mountaintop she could find. She bet he'd never seen a cloud up close. "Soo... how's your friend?" Kira jumped, the bustling train station coming to life before her. She'd quite forgotten where she was. "Deron? He's fine," she smiled, pleased Macy had remembered him. "He keeps saying about how the whole Parmida thing is his new favourite thing to talk about." There was a pause, as a train pulled up with the familiar screeching sound on the metal tracks. It seemed to sigh, smoke billowing out of it as though breath. Kira tilted her head, frowning at it. If she ran fast enough, could she keep up with it all the way through No Man's Land...? "How's your friend?" Kira asked. "Steve?"

"He's okay, I think he was a bit annoyed at everyone laughing at him, bless him. He's really cool. His family is totally messed up, you know. Mum's in a mental home, dad's an addict, uncle had abused him. But he's so sweet. Has to take loads of med's every morning, but forget's some times, and there's always that fear that he'll explode something near to him or yourself. But I really like him, it's so strange." She giggled a bit, and flicked her hair from her face, and bit her lip a bit. She sighed, and watched a sheep in the distance, grazing. "So, how're your classes?"

"Same old," Kira sighed. "Prof. Danton is making us write an essay on Orchid's Rise to Power. I don't really know whether I'm meant to include the war or not." There was a brief pause. "Probably should," she sighed. "Hey, how well can Steve control his power?" Macy's giggle had not gone unnoticed...

"I don't know, I think he's probably better than when he first came here, but it's probably harder for him, having A.D.D., and whatever. But I think, when he's annoyed, or not concentrating, or even concentrating too much, he may explode something, without meaning to. He sometimes hear's or see's things he isn't meant to, you know, which really get to him, and something near him may explode. It's hard, like, you can't imagine what's going though his mind..." She felt as if a large weight had been thrown on her heart. She took a deep breath. "I think he likes to put on the whole, always happy thing, to cover up his real confusion and pain. Maybe green dosen't actually mean 'happy', but something else, but I don't know. His hair...I mean...although it isn't hard to miss that about him..."

Kira was smiling at Macy now. She couldn't help it. A funny thought had occurred to her- but it was definitely one she liked. From thoughts of flying and running, her mind's eye now was conjuring a very different picture... "He's really nice," Kira said softly. "I'm sorry he's had- having a bit of a hard time."

Macy sighed again. "Yeah, but he's a good kid." She looked out over the field, and saw that the sheep had been joined by another sheep. Some fog was arriving down from the forest, and was heading towards the tracks. She could hear the train in the distance. "Hey, what ever happened to that woman you kidnapped, is she still in Cardsdale?" Macy hadn't heard much about the woman that Kira had hypnotized.

"Ruby." The name gave Kira a funny thrill. That afternoon, she was going to speak with Ailith. She'd split the video tapes with Lisle and Seamus, and they'd all agreed Ailith would be a good choice to bring down for the interrogation. It would happen as soon as Prof. Hoodham gave them word... "Myself and some of my Spies plan to interrogate her. There may be some sort of plot afoot."

Macy thought back to when Natalia was running her life. How she could helplessy watch her kill that man...he deserved it, though. Maybe she should tell Kira about Natalia...how she's gone. She did know her...well, sort of. "Kira, you know Natalia?" She asked. Kira looked up at her, wondering what she was going to say. "Well, um.." She was about to finally tell her, when the train came into the station. Macy got distracted and looked up. Through the steam, some doors opened. A girl came out, and looked up, in shock. "Kerry?" Kira asked, seeming to forget that Macy was talking to her...

Kira watched as the next train rolled into the station- emerald green in colour, like a dragon. It snaked its way now up the tracks, coming to a shuddering, awkward halt. It seemed to sigh- as if in relief, and quite suddenly, its wings flew open and crowds of people began to climb out into the platform. The smoke unfurled like clouds around them- darkened figures, with darkened faces. Strangers in the breath of the beast. One girl in particular caught Kira's eye- one who was pretty, though unnaturally pale. She couldn't see her properly, but her hair was... short... straight... She held hands with a boy, who was carrying some sort of clipboard... Macy was talking about something, but she couldn't hear her properly over the chatter of people. Besides, this girl was taking all of her attention. She knew her. She definitely... knew... And then, like a bolt of lightening, it hit her. "Kerry?" Kira jumped up, peering through the fog. The girl jumped and looked up. It was Kerry! But instead of any sort of cry of greeting- be it hostile or friendly, Kerry's mouth opened in shock, turning to the boy beside her. "Kerry?" Kira frowned, waving at her. "Kerry, where are- ?" It was too late. Kerry and the boy were both pelting down the station, the boy dropping one of his papers in his haste. Dream-like, Kira ran forward and picked it up. It looked like some kind of leaflet, but it was covered in funny symbols. Was it a different language? "Look at this," frowned Kira, returning to Macy and passing it over.

"Wha..what on earth..?" Macy, seeming to forget what she had been talking about too. She took the papers that were in her hands. "That's weird...wait, who exactly are those people?" She asked, wanting to know that facts, before evening trying to work out the strange symbols. She looked back down the leaflet, her brain switcking into high-gear, streaming through her knowledge that may help.

"The girl was Deron's cousin," Kira said darkly. "And... they were holding hands, so I suppose he must her girlfriend. But what- " she gestured at the leaflet- "are those?" She had an ominous feeling growing in the pit of her stomach; black and twisted. Deron had told Kira that Kerry was going out with someone... who was 'bad news'. Her Spy instinct was kicking in, and a heck of a lot more questions were beginning to bubble within.

Macy continued to stare at the paper, but still listening to Kira. "Wait...I know that word..." She said, pointing at one 'word' on the third line, in bold. "It was on his jumper...my torturer...whenever I was taken..." She left like a swoop of fear and sickness wash over her, just thinking about him. He's dead, Macy. Natalia killed him...for you... She heard a voice in her head say to her. It was Natalia talking to her, just her mind. "I think it must be the name of his section, or something. Or a slogan, or something. In '1984' by George Orwell, they had the slogans 'War is Peace', 'Freedom is Slavery', 'Ignorance is Strength'...it could be something like that. I think I might have to study this for a while. Wait...I know a girl in Academics, Trinity Evans, her father is cryptographer, you know, someone who can break codes and things. Maybe she can help." She looked up at the fields again, the train had left without Macy realising it. She then looked at the door that thr ticket master had walked into a while ago. She could see a face peering out the window. "I think we better go, Kira." She said, nodding towards the face in the window.

Kira nodded, and the two friends headed back up to the school; each lost in their own thoughts...
((sorry it's short. it was just to draw it to a conclusion))
