"Sure," he rolled his eyes, moving his lips across to her still warm cheek, "then put up a fight." His fingertips softly brushed across her cheek and down; a slight pressure against the grooves of her neck.

His fingers stroked her neck, and his lips gently brushed against her cheek... That felt too good to be legal, Madeleine was certain. "That's called cheating," she murmured, attempting and failing to stiffen and pull away.

Lee's lips formed a smile against her cheek; his index finger still lightly encircling the hollow of her neck. "Put up a fight," he insisted, his other arm pulling her closer; pressing their bodies together.

Madeleine softened again as he pulled her towards him, succombing to his touch once more. Still, he was insistant, and she didn't really want to disappoint him... A few seconds later, she forced herself to pull back, back until only one fingertip was touching the others. "If you insist," she smirked, hoping that he'd bring her back into his embrace.

Lee smiled, and relented, stepping backwards, and out of her reach. It wasn't fair to keep kissing her like that. Even though he wanted to... "I mustn't be as irresistable as I thought," he sigh, mock-bowing his head. "What a blow to my ego."

Madeleine laughed at that. "Well, you bruised my feelings, so serves you right. Besides, if you think you're irresistable, you need taken down a peg..." She didn't mean it. She couldn't mean it - the playful look (although it was of hurt) on Lee's face was irresistable. More than just irrestable... Then there was the taunting tease in his eyes as he looked at her from under his fringe... and the gentle curve of his lips as he tried not to laugh... And she caved. How could she not? Abandoning the mock argument, she stepped forward to him and let her hands slide over his cheeks, into his thick hair. Sucker. She brought her lips close to his, and whispered against them: "Sorry... I lied."

Her breath tickled his lips slightly as she spoke, and Lee closed his eyes for a couple of seconds; pressing them slightly closer to his. The kiss held for a second two seconds, and then Lee pulled away again, looking down at Maddie. "Bethany would kill you for saying that, you know," he laughed softly. "For telling me I'm irresistable. She'd tell me my head was getting fat, then blame you." He rolled his eyes, kissing Maddie once more. "Stop making my head fat."

"Only to me," she teased. "I'll be careful not to say it in front of her when she comes over, then..." And there - he'd done it. One of the things that she'd been trying to forget; and she'd suceeded in forgetting it for the meantime. And he'd brilliantly reminded her. "Your parents are coming this weekend, right?" she asked, nervously. It was really weird how worrying this was... well, actually, it wasn't at all. Madeleine didn't know what Lee's parents were going to think of her. She was a litle terrified that she wouldn't be what they were expecting, that she wouldn't match the standards, that they would care that she wasn't good enough for their son. Of course, she wasn't, but he didn't care... what if his family did?

"Ah. Yeah," Lee felt himself gulp. God. He hadn't realised it was so soon! Maddie apparently was keeping closer tabs on the whole thing than he was- thank goodness, too. His mother would never have forgiven him if she arrived in Cardsdale and he didn't visit or see her once. Honestly, deprive her of the chance to meet her future daughter-in-law?! It would be unacceptable, Lee Ryan Norris, absolutely unacceptable! ... but the look on her face could be worth it.

Madeleine noticed that he didn't look too thrilled, and her apprehension rose a little higher. "I must admit, I'm a little nervous," she said slowly. "In case I don't meet expectations..." That wouldn't be too hard to do. After all, Lee's mother was assuming her to be French! French she most definitely was not. And Madeleine was willing to bet that they were all expecting someone sweet, witty, beautiful, intelligent, homely - all the things any parent wanted for their child's partner, right? Madeleine couldn't help but feel that she was going to be a bit of a disappointment. Yes, she was Head of the Warriors - but that was really the only thing going for her, wasn't it? And in some people's eyes, that was as much of a bad thing as a good thing. Her grandmother had boasted about it to her book club (they had a bit of a 'my-grandchild-is-better-than-yours rivalry going on there), and lots of people thought that that wasn't proper, was too dangerous, and in general, just wasn't a good thing. And as for homely? Madeleine hadn't lived in a house before!

... expectations? Lee's eyebrows shot up in surprise at the slight panic sudden and unimistakably clear in Maddie's voice. She was worried... about... meeting expectations?! On one hand, Lee could laugh. His parents... especially his mother- well, gosh, Maddie was just about everything they'd want. She was pretty and she could play chess- as far as Lee's parents were concerned, she was all Lee needed. But she was more. His mother would adore her. His father would respect her. His sister would attack her in a frenzy of well-intentioned love. However... He remembered only too well how terrified he'd been of meeting Maddie's parents; he remembered only too well just how scary her dad's biceps were... But Maddie didn't need to worry about anything! "Madeleine," he said softly, cupping her chin and tilting her head upwards. "Believe me- you have nothing to worry about."

His touch couldn't even calm her slightly. "Lee... they think I'm French," she said, slightly miserably. "As in... from France." And of course, French women had their stereotypes. Seductive, beautiful, waspish waists and full figures, great cooks... The last time Madeleine had tried cooking... well... maybe it was best not to bring that up again. And the rest was just plainly laughable. Lee should know how this felt. She'd tried to convince him that her parents would love him, but he didn't believe her - and they did love him. Well, her mum wasn't his biggest fan right now, but she was just going to have to get over that.

"They don't think you're French!" laughed Lee. "They want to know if you're French- and to be honest, it's probably better than you're not. Dad doesn't have much time for the French." Lee was pretty sure his dad was joking about that though. Sort of. Perhaps it was the whole 'eating snails' thing that put him off. And failing French at Orchid Hill probably didn't help either. "Look, come on, Maddie, why wouldn't they like you?"

Madeleine smiled at the French thing, noting that slightly anti-Franco feelings did seem to be a rather common occurance in men of their parents' generation. "Look, come on, Maddie, why wouldn't they like you?" Right... how could she explain this... "Why would they?" she asked, rather more nervously than she'd intended. "I've yet to figure out what you see in me, but your parents probably won't look at me in quite the same way. I mean... just... I'm not exactly perfect daughter-in-law material. Nor perfect wife material, for that matter."

Perfect... wife material...? What did Maddie have going on in that head of her's? This is what he meant; exactly what he meant when Maddie closed her eyes and drifted off into another world... He wanted to know. He wanted to understand, because Lee felt like he could never understand enough. She was worrying him, now. Was she really that worried about his parents? He knew he'd been worried about her's... but the difference now was that he knew his parents. He didn't have to worry, because he already knew they'd fall in love with her just like he did. So Lee arched an eyebrow. "Define perfect."
