Isolde sat at a table by herself. She looked around at the fire and saw some of the people looking at her. She turned around quickly again and carried on reading her favourite book Naughts and Crosses. So what? She was a new girl, big deal. Now Isolde, that' no way to be thinking! Ok, so her brain was right. People did have a right to be curious. It was in a humans nature to be curious. "Isolde you fool! What would your mam say if she could read your thoughts right now," she scolded herself under her breath. Ok, just keep on reading the book, don't get distracted.. Ok, this just wasn't working. Everyone was staring at her and it really was distracting her. She put the book softly down on the table and put her head in her hands. "Why did I come here?" she asked out loud to herself but somebody answered her.

Brad looked up from his book, everyone was staring at the new girl. Poor girl, he thought, recalling his first day. Although his was pretty good, he met Tamika that day. That didn't go anywhere good... Well, yet... He seemed to be having various conversations at once in his head. His thoughts were disturbed as he heard the new girl say to herself, presumably, "Why did I come here?" "Possibly because you have nothing better to do with your evening and didn't expect to get stared at?" He replied, answering her question with one of his own.

She smiled but didn't turn to look at him. "Could well be," she answered back. Well he was right about one thing. She hadn't expected everyone to be staring at her like she was some alien. She turned to face him, her elctric blue eyes twinkling as the light danced across her face. "Nice to meet you sir. I'm Isolde, Isolde Moore," she bowed her head.

The girl turned to look at him after her response and smiled as she realised she didn't have some weird house sized nose which was the cause of the staring. "Brad Hislop," he smiled in return, deciding not to go down the 'Well madame, I am Bradley Hislop route' as it was corny as...

"Well hello Mr. Hislop, pleasure to meet you," she turned back. "You may have a seat," she gestured to the one opposite her,"So how long have you been here for?" It seemed to be a common question now.

"And you too, Isolde," he smiled, moving to the seat opposite from her and setting his book down. "Nearly four months I think. What about yourself? Have you been her for a few days or just a couple?"

"I only arrived here not last night but the night before," she answered politely. "This place is like a bloomin' maze!" she said a tiny bit louder.

"It really is," he agreed. "How are you liking it so far? Classes and everything going ok for you?" Brad asked, wanting to make sure Isolde's first few weeks weren't too sucky.

"Ah, I thought so," Brad laughed. "I haven't really met many Irish people so I'm not greatly familiar with the accent," he explained.

"The part of New Zealand I'm from, we don't really get many people from other countries, hearing accents has usually been from going to Auckland so there's a lot of accents and dialects I'm not too familiar with..." Brad explained further.

"Ah right, that would explain it," she replied. "What powers do you have?"
