Madeleine leaned forward to kiss him, moving her arms up around his neck. The ring... if it had felt good before, this now made it all so real. They were getting married. She was going to spend the rest of her life with him. She would spend every day and every night with him, and... That felt better than anything she'd ever experienced before. "Where's the might?" she smiled.

Lee laughed. "The past week hasn't felt real- I guess I was just making sure." He kissed her lips quickly; pressing down hard, then breaking away. "Just making sure." Another kiss; this time, slightly softer, but still as definite as before. "Just to be absolutely positive..."

Madeleine laughed, curling his soft hair around her fingers, before kissing him again. She knew what he meant about it not feeling real... but it was. It was real. They were getting married. It was so brilliantly, wonderfully real. Breaking away, she smiled, softly whispering. "It's real."

"Yeah," he laughed. "But just to be 100% totally and completely certain..." A final kiss; this one lingered, and suddenly, he felt his arms slipping around her waist. On the spot, they rocked, Lee's own scattered thoughts picking up speed and whirling round and round; a tornado of confusion and colour. A step closer; and she was pressed against him; and her sweet breath tickled the hollow of his neck. Lee chuckled to himself, lowering his chin, and meeting her eyes. As a couple, they continued to sway. "I should get ballroom dancing lessons," Lee said softly. "You know- for the first dance bit."

Madeleine relaxed against him, feeling her heart rate speed up at the close contact, her heart pounding so fast and hard, she was certain Lee found feel it accelerate. "Hmm," she murmured, smiling as they rocked from side to side. "You seem to be doing very well as it is..." Her fingers still stroked automatically through his hair, luxuriating in its silkiness. And as she did this, all she could think was that she never had to stop doing this...

Lee laughed. "You too, actually. And next, I would say we could sing to each other- but then I remembered..." He spun around, carrying her with him like they were floating, and suddenly, he dipped her. He laughed at her, pulling her up again. "You're a terrible singer." So he could sing for her; maybe. Serenading- you know- the whole Romeo and Juliet thing. Lee laughed aloud at the thought. God. Next thing you know he'd been singing West Side Story to her... "Madeleine, I've just met a girl called Madeleine-" Shut up, Lee.

Madeleine's breath caught in her throat as he dipped her, then pulled her back up. "Oh," she said breathlessly. "You know I sing in the shower, right? You are so screwed." It was funny how he never failed to take her breath away. Relaxing in his arms again, she inhaled his familiar scent, breathing him in like some sweet form of oxygen. "Besides, my terrible singing could put off an enemy; you never know," she winked.

"Right," Lee laughed at her. "Sure. You just try that next time you go out to battle, and we'll see how that one works out." They'd come to a halt now; and stood, casually, they arms around each other as they spoke. Lee smiled at Maddie now. "So, then- maybe I should sing for the both of us," he mused. "Anything in particular you'd like...?" This was, of course, assuming she knew him well enough to choose something from his somewhat limited music knowledge.

Madeleine laughed, shaking her head as she smiled up at him. "Not particularly," she said, pulling herself closer to him. Her hands trailed down from his hair to rest at the back of his neck, where her fingers could feel the sensation of his skin under hers. "You pick for me."

Darn her. She just had to make life difficult for him, didn't she? Lee pulled a face, reaching around and taking one of her hands from his neck. Thoughtfully; he slipped his fingers in between hers, so that their hands interlocked, and began to sway slightly again with her; half-dancing, half-just rocking. What songs had she given him? What songs did he know? What songs would she understand...? Then, the lyrics started to fall from his lips; cringingly uncertain... "If I don't say this now I will surely break As I'm leaving the one I want to take Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait My heart has started to separate..."

She relaxed, letting him sway her, moving to the same beat as him, hand held safely in his. The familiar words, sung in the sweet baritone of his voice, took on a new meaning as she heard them this way. And, strangely, they moved her in a way that was beyond expression, a way that tugged on her heartstrings, touching her somwhere as she remembered the next verse. There now, steady love, so few come and don't go Will you won't you, be the one I always know When I'm losing my control, the city spins around You're the only one who knows, you slow it down... It was the way that the song articulated so many things that she wished that she could put into words that worked. And as he sang the song softly to her, all she could do was smile at him.

Something about that smile instillled confidence in him; and as he sang, he became louder; more confident. After all, he reminded himself, he was singing for Maddie. And Maddie deserved the best. Not that the best he could do was much good. But you know, it was a start. "I'll look after you And I'll look after you If ever there was a doubt My love she leans into me This most assuredly counts She says most assuredly..." His grip tightened around Maddie, returning her smile.

He pulled her closer as he rocked her, in towards him, where she... just breathed him in. Just was. No one had ever sang to her like this. No one else could ever sing to her like this. No one else could ever sway her in his arms, and make her heart stop and take her breath away all in one fell swoop. As he finished the next chorus, Madeleine started to sing her two favourite lines, the lines that spoke most strongly: "It's always have and never hold, You've begun to feel like home..." And for what had to be the first time ever - her voice was in tune.

Lee stopped suddenly, staring at Maddie. "What happened there?" She'd sang along with him- she had, but she hadn't- she- How could she?

Madeleine pulled back at him, scrutinizing his face with a small frown on her face. "What was what? I sang two lines of the song... I mean, I know my tune was probably definitely not right, but was it that bad?" Okay, now she knew that singing along through instinct was a bad idea...
