"Don't say that," Lee laughed. "I swear. I can make up for the snoring... I can... em... iron?" Thank god Jack couldn't overhear them...

Madeleine chuckled. "You don't have to do that - sure, I psychokines. I can iron while I'm reading, or something. You're going to have to change the lightbulbs, though, because I can't reach." It was amazing how much better domestic chores sounded right now than they ever had before.

"Maddie..." he said slowly. "Are we gonna have kids?" Logic (what was left of it) told him to take things one step at a time. But... nah.

Kids with Lee... The thought made her smile. "Would you like to have kids?"

He bit his lip, a little astounded by this strange dream. Madeleine and him... raising a family. Boy, those kids would get screwed up. But still, regardless of what was in the best interests of the children, the idea held an irresistable appeal. He could be a father... Madeleine and him married. It opened up so many strange paths; criss-crossing all over the place. A family. A life. It was just... well it was pretty unbelievable. "Yeah," he laughed. "I think I'd like that."

Madeleine smiled, imagining the two of them with kids. It just... it fit. It really did. A mother. She'd always had some vague idea that she'd like to have children some day in the future, but the idea of having children with Lee was... irresistibly appealing, if she was honest. "You know, I'd really like that too."

He laughed. "Kids it is. 7 or 8?"

Madeleine laughed at that. "Maybe it'd be a good idea to finish school before we decide that."

He grinned. "Fair enough." Sighing, Lee pulled Maddie as close as he could. Sleep really beginning to fade over him now. His eyes closed, and he inhaled deeply; drawing in the smell of her, and resting his chin on her shoulder. Their backs were to the sofa, but Lee moved now, bring her with him, so that they lay on the floor. She rolled over, so her back was to his stomach, and he slipped one arm around her waist, whilst the other rested on her shoulder. Still, he kept his chin on her shoulder; where his breath could tickle her neck, and vaguely wondered whether or not at this proximity to her ear if his snores would wake her up in the night. He seriously hoped Brian had been taking the mick. "Maddie," he said softly, his eyes still closed; black as their surroundings.

He could hold her like this every night as they went to sleep. As Madeleine realised this, a contented smile crossed her lips as she knew that she'd have everything that she'd ever wanted or wished for. She had someone who loved her. And that was all she'd ever need in life. And the person who loved her... he was a better love of her life than anyone she could have imagined. Yes, he was flawed - but she loved those flaws. Even though at points they had the potential to annoy the hell out of her - she loved them. She loved everything about him. She loved him so much. And now, she had him back. Back from a dark place, where he hadn't remembered her, and she'd been close to the brink of madness. Now, he was hers again, and she was back in his arms. Right where she should be. She could feel his breath tickling her neck, and she smiled at the warm sensation, bringing her arm to rest over his, leaving her hand lying on top of his hand. "I love you," she murmured, before letting sleep overwhelm her eyelids, and drifting off, safe in the knowledge that nothing could touch her so long as she was safe in Lee's arms.

Lee felt sleepy, certainly, but it took a while for the sleep to overwhelm him entirely. It was long after she'd whispered those sweet words; and her breathing had become steady and even, before he really could let himself drift off. He moved slightly, so he was leaning over her, and watching her soft, pink smile. Automatically, his hand reached out, and touched her face, moving across the soft pucker of her lips; and the smooth slope of her cheeks. Leaning closer, Lee's lips met hers, and just for a second, beneath him, she seemed to freeze. Just for a second. Then, she relaxed again, as he pulled away, her smile just that little bit wider. He laughed softly, amused by just how easy it was for him to make her smile like that. It was strange... being blessed with that sort of power. The soft brilliance of her eyes sparkled when she looked at him; and that fact made him feel... elated. Gifted. Like some kind of unworthy miracle-worker. His gran used to talk about Heaven, and angels all the time. She used to talk about God, and how He'd blessed everyone with their very own angel. Only now, as he lay with Maddie, could he really say he believed her. Maddie- to him- was all the proof of angels he needed. "Thankyou, God," he whispered, and finally, his consiousness slipped away into dreams of memories of Madeleine...
