Jude sat down with a battered copy of the Grapes of Wrath, feeling slightly resentful towards the book. He hadn't actually finished Catch-22 yet; he'd been on page 494, and when he came to finish the book off, it'd been missing! He looked everywhere in his Dorm for it, and then Tameron had told him he was an idiot for taking so long to read it and that it was his fault. When he'd asked Kira about it, she'd just shrugged and handed him a notice for the SCR volunteers thing, which he appreciated, but that wasn't exactly the point of the conversation. Lee had been too busy kissing Madeleine at the time to pay attention to him. He hadn't been able to find Ailith, Will or Macy, and although he'd spotted Steve, he hadn't gotten a chance to talk to him. So all in all, the Catch-22 thing was a major disappointment. Still, according to Ivan, the Grapes of Wrath was really good. It was all about the American Depression in the early thirties. Terrible times those, Jude would muse. Real bad stuff. He remembered them just like yesterday- The best thing about being at Orchid was that people actually took him seriously when he said things like that! Settling into his book, Jude cleared the first few chapters quickly enough, but soon, Jude's mind had wandered on him, and his trademark song was playing full blast inside his head... "And any time you feel the pain, hey, Jude, refrain Don't carry the world upon your shoulders Well don't you know that its a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder..." He began humming to himself, wishing he hadn't misplaced his iPod too. Why was all his stuff going missing anyway?!

Tamika was slowly walking up the hallway. When she was younger she had been brilliant at reading whilst walking and she was trying to get back into that habit, made life easier. She was currently reading the first of Doris Stokes' books, also trying to make her way to the common room. She made it to the door, but unfortunately as she entered, she tripped on a rug placed near the door. "YARBLES!" She screamed as she crashed towards the ground. She really had to stop saying that so much. Tamika pushed herself off the ground and picked up her book and got back on her feet. A few students that were sitting in the common room were staring at her. "Sorry..." Tamika slipped her shoe, which had came off during falling, back on and walked over to the only sofa with free space, which a lad was sitting on. "Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" She asked, fixing her bookmark in where she had last read before her trip.

Well, that was one hell of an entry! Jude's little musical reverie was tossed out of his head the second this new girl came crashing into the Common Room. He felt like he recognised her from somewhere... wasn't she one of Will's friends? He'd seen the two hanging out together before. He watched curiously as she came towards him with a book. "Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" she asked him politely. "No, that's fine," Jude beamed, moving over slightly to make room for her. There was a brief moment of silence, as Jude tried and failed to go back to reading the Grapes of Wrath. "I'm Jude," he told her instead, tossing the book aside.

Tamika smiled thanks at the boy and sat down on the sofa. She returned to reading her book, only to realise she was on a chapter she had read about an hour ago, and she had complete messed her bookmark up. She was thankful when the boy spoke, as she couldn't be bothered finding her place again at the minute. "I'm Jude," he said. "I'm Tamika," she replied with a small smile, shaking the boys hand.

"Tamika," Jude repeated, trying it out. "That's an unusual name. What accent is that?" There was no point in her asking him what his accent was. Texan was universally known and acknowledged. And also, it got the mick taken out of it so much it was incredible. Texas wasn't that funny. Oh, well.

"Russian. Or if you want specifics it's a Moscow accent with a slight hint of Yekaterinburg," Tamika explained, making her sound like a dialect geek. She blamed Brad for that. "And you're from Texas I presume?"

"The one and only," he replied happily, wishing he had his stetson right now.

"Like your mother country, then?" Tamika laughed.

He nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah... I'm pretty much a Texas guy through and through. Actually, I'd say most Texans love their country. When reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, Texas even adds its own line!" He laughed. "D'you like... um... Yekat... burg?"

Tamika giggled at his attempt. "Yekaterinburg. Yeah, I adored it when I was there. It's one of those places that you gotta have a certain something to like though, 'cos of the weather and everything. Was quite miffed when I moved to Moscow, but it had more places to watch ballet, so that was me happy again."

"Oh, yuck," Jude wrinkled his nose. "Ballet would just make me want to go back to... that place even more! I never moved; I pretty much lived in Housten for most of my life. I always was curious about moving- I thought Mexico would've been great."

"Typical male! Judging ballet before you give it a go!" Tamika laughed. "Housten, eh? What's it like there? I always wanted to go to America, but before here I've never left Russia..."

"Pretty big," he said, running out of adjectives quickly. "Um... bit rough. But alright. You get used to it. And who said I never went to ballet?! My sister always put on shows! Although, saying that, she was about 3 at the time..."

"Ah, you may have went, but I said give it a go. You'd quite suit a tutu," Tamika grinned, curling her legs up underneath her.

"I do have pretty good legs..." he mused; sincerely praying that anybody who happened to overhear them wouldn't think him gay.
