Ailith strode into the Common Room and selected a seat acoss and down from Madeleine Baudelaire. Right, maths. Excersice for the brain, well more like toning. OK stop getting distracted. Ailith picked up her pencil, put it to the paper but didn't move it. She had thought of something... "Madeleine? Sorry to disturb you, but do you allow non-warriors into battle training?"

Angles of elevation and depression... The bane of Madeleine's existance - for tonight, anyway. Honestly, the day this came in useful somewhere in her life would be the day she died from sheer shock. The Sin, Cos and Tan buttons - as soon as she left school, she'd be doing what Shaun had done and tossing her calculator. Preferably off a high point into some deep, deep water. She put her hand on her forehead and tried to concentrate on this utter boll- "Madeleine?" She looked up wearily to see Ailith, the Spy who had engraved her knife, and smiled. "Sorry to disturb you, but do you all non-warriors into battle training?" Oh no - not again. She sat up straight. "Only for a very good reason - there's only five non-warriors in training with me at the minute." Coincedentally, three out of five were Spies - and all (except Lee, apparently) had some deep dark need for revenge - and all were able to fight; she'd seen that. Though, looking at Ailith and remembering what she'd been like at the campfire, Madeleine knew that even if Ailith didn't have a good reason to join - she couldn't afford to turn her down. "Why?" she said, tapping the end of her pen on the paper.

Ailith shurugged, "Just to keep in shape. My spy work's become more theory now and I'd like to keep fit and agile for when we switch back. I'm not keen on losing the skills I've built up so far and I don't really have anyone to sparr with so I was wondering if there was a gap in the training. Is that a valid reason?" Ailith looked Madeleine in the eye as she said this letting her know she was keen but no hard feelings if she said no. "Not usually, but I could maybe squeeze you in. What skills have you built up?" Madeleine half frowned. "Some knife work, bit of unarmed, hand-eye, accuracy in fire-arms, fencing, just the usual stuff really. If you don't think it's a good idea I understand. I can always pick it up again, I'm sure. I'd really appreciate it if you would allow me though." Well speech over. Just cross your fingers now...

Madeleine chewed on her lip for a second. "Well, I shouldn't really, but... well, it sounds like you've had some experience. Either that or you worked for a circus... and you seem capable enough of looking after yourself..." She frowned. After her lecture to Will, she shouldn't really - but then again, everyone did seem to wonder why Ailith wasn't a Warrior. And Will wasn't a Head..." "Fine," she said, smiling. "I'd be glad to have you - just don't expect too much of my training!"

"Either that or you worked for a circus..." Ailith bit her toungue and tensed her torso allowing only the hiccup of a laugh to escape her as she smiled warmly at Madeleine. That's a new one for the school! Ailith laughed aloud inside. But yes she was in! Thank goodness for that for Ailith had gotten used to training vigourosly at least three times a day and somethimes a test attack to make sure you were watching. It was tough in the Assassin's School but like they always said, once your in you cannot get out. Well Ailith could d**n well try, and so could everyone else. It's just some of the routines are hard to snap out of. "Don't you train the other non-warriors?" Ailith frowned. What would Madeleine expect her to do? Just get on with it? Would she even assign a partner to Ailith?

"I haven't, but past Heads would only do it in a very, very extreme circumstance. I don't like putting any more people at risk - besides, there's generally more than enough Warriors. And we have to take Combat Training - it's compulsary for everybody." Madeleine didn't need to ask Ailith if she was any good at combat - her air and manner of just being spoke for themselves.

"OK. Thank you so much this helps a lot. When's the first training session?" Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

"The next one is on Saturday, 1.30," Madeleine said, tearing off a piece of file paper and writing down the time and venue, before handing it to Ailith. "Battle training room, be there on the dot, okay?"

"Of course! Thank you so much." Ailith folded the file paper and slid it into her inside pocket. She turned back to her maths and somehow the answers seemed to jump fom the page.

"No problem," Madeleine said, before focusing on her homework again, sucking on the end of her pen. She now had Ailith on her team... score.
