Esther sat on a large, leather chair, opposite her new boss, Major Hoodham. She has just come from the train, meeting some of the students, including two of the Heads of Groups in the school.
The room was large and old, and there were doors around the room, with bookcases lining the wall.
"So, Professor Gonzalez, welcome to our school. Would you like some tea?" He asked, pouring out some into an antique china cup, at his desk. She smiled and nodded, and he handed her a cup. Before she sipped it, she knew that it would be too hot, so she created a drop of cold water with her fingers, and put it in it, cooling it down.
"We are pleased to greet you to our teaching staff. Hopefully you will find the school to your liking, have you been shown your new room?" He asked, in a kind voice, while taking a sip of his tea. She nodded again, thinking back to when the vice-principle showed her where she'd be living, last time she was at the school. Her room was quite small, with a tiny bathroom and a window that looked over the forest.
Prof. Gonzalez looked up at Prof. Hoodham, who was smiling at her. She smiled back, and then looked around the room.
"Well, I'm sure you know about the school's history..." He said, setting down his, now, empty cup.
"Yes, I lived in Cardsdale for some time, this is where I trained with my powers." She said, taking another sip of her tea. "I went away for a while and then I decided to return to the village to try and get a job in the school. And, that's where I am now.." She laughed.
"And you know about the battles?" He asked. She defiantly did know about the battles and the enemies, she was made to live with them when he was in Cardsdale, training, but she managed to escape. And that's one of the reasons that she wanted to work on the opposing line to them.
"Yes, I do know about them, but it's okay, I have been in places like this before." She said, smiling. She hadn't told him about her time with his enemies, and wasn't in a rush to tell him about it, either.
He nodded, listening, while going through some papers on his desk. He wrote down something, and then placed that piece of paper in one of his drawers.
She felt slightly uncomfortable in his office, and started nervously tapping the side of the chair.
"Well, I think everything is in order here, I'm sure you're impatient to go to your new room to get settled in." He said, standing up. She realised that this was a signal for her to leave, and she stood up too, heading for the door she came in. "Oh, and Professor Gonzalez, classes start on Monday, some of the students are still coming home from their Christmas holidays. Oh, and one of the students in Warriors has run away, but we think he's still in the Cardsdale area, and we have groups searching for him." He added in when she was leaving the room. She turned around to face him when he said that, but he was already walking back into his room.
She turned around to face the corridor before her, and it was on to her next challenge- finding her way around this new school.
