Kira hovered outside the Hospital Wing, her little bag of photos and memories resting awkwardly in the crook of her arm. Her bag was slung over one shoulder; a dark brown leather strap straining under the weight of the books she never seemed to find room in her locker for.
Lee was in there.
She reached forward; her fingers lightly touching the slippery door-knob, which was cool beneath her skin. That meant something, did it not? Lattices, lattices... structures... structures... ionic bonds... covalent? She wasn't sure. She had known, maybe... but now...
Everything was just a blank.
That's what happened when you forgot.
So for Lee... was it all just one big blank?
She could ask him that if she just went in. She could ask him so many things... ask him about what Prof. Hoodham may have told him... ask him whether he was okay or not, or... or maybe he'd have questions for her. His mind must be prickling with curiosity- no, completely chock full of it- stuffed and over-flowing with question after question...
That's what it would be like for her Lee.
Taking a deep breath, Kira gritted her teeth in a smile, and entered the Hospital Wing...
"Oh," she said, blankly, the second her eyes fell on Will and Lee, feeling slightly surprised. "Um... hi."

Will stared at Kira. She had a big book in one arm and her back slung over her shoulder.
"Hey," Will shifted,"I'll go. Lee maybe we'll go for a walk later, ok?"
She walked towards Kira and stopped a fe feet in front of her.
"Nothing. Maybe that will help him though...do you have a brother? I don't actually know much about your family," she let out a little laugh.

"No, stay, Will," Kira said firmly, glancing over at Lee. "He has a sister, Bethany, but I'm an only child."

Will turned around and walked back over to Lee who was looking very confused.
"Lee, let's go outside into the office. It's warmer and more comfortable, plus we can have nice food a drinks there!" she led him into the office with Kira tottering behind them.
"Here, we go, what drink do you want?"

Lee tilted his head, staring at all the different flavours.
"No idea."
His cousin- Kira- came up shyly behind him. "You always get that one-" she pointed, and nodded, "it's your favourite."
Lee smiled at her, then glanced back at Will. "My favourite, please."

"Just the same, thanks," Kira beamed, taking the warm drink from Will. She looked at Lee shyly, struck dumb into silence now that she was there. All those prepared speeches in her head sounded corny now, and stupid.
And no doubt a letter would have been the same!
So what was Kira's solution?
"So... you finding hospital alright?"
Lee shrugged. "Can't complain, though I'm keen to get out."
"Bet you are!" she giggled. "Will treating you alright?"
"Alright," Lee confirmed.
Silence.
"Awkward," Lee observed.
"Slightly," she smiled.

"Well, once Kira has shown you a few people then it'll be a bit better for when you family comes to see you," Will smiled gently and sat on the sofa opposite them sipping her Iron Bru.
"Kira, if you will?"

"Loads of people want to see you," Kira told him happily. "Jack, Brian, Ellie... well, I suppose those names mean nothing to you..."
"Ellie does!" Lee looked quite pleased with himself. "Yeah, she brought me down from the Principal's Office after..."
"Yeah, I know," Kira mumbled.

As Lee and Kira talked, Will had picked up the photoalbum and had started flicking through the pictures.
One picture caught her eye. It was of Kira, Lee and another girl who Will took to be Le''s sister Bethany.
Her fingers lightly traced the picture and she came into one of her visions.
Kira and Lee were mucking about somewhere. They were playing catch or something. Kira ran through and slipped in the mud. She was covered. Lee came over and caught her. It melted away and they were standing out in the street, just talking. Bethany came out of a house and came over to them. They started to laugh...
Will opened her eyes and just gazed at the picture, wishing she had someone that close to her.

"Oh, god, don't look at those," Kira winced. "They're really embarrassing."
"What are they?" Lee asked, looking over.
"Presents," she smiled at him.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Photos, then," she laughed. "Of us."

"Trust me, you're lucky to have Kira as your cousin!"
Lee just shrugged.
God, this must be awful for him... Will thought.

Lee picked up one of the albums now, surprised by its thick, hefty weight. He opened it, and there, in scrawled, unfamiliar writing, was his full name: Lee Ryan Norris. He stared at it for a couple of seconds, wondering if the writing was his own... then turned the page.
There. The first photo was him... and... a shoe? And Kira in the background, apparently. They looked younger though... maybe... oof. 10?
On the next page, there was a man and a woman sitting beside each other. The man was sitting up slightly, his hand in the air as he laughed, and the woman was laughing... at him, maybe. Underneath, the scrawled writing proclaimed the picture: Mum and Dad.
Lee drank in his parents, slowly, carefully, then turned the page again, this time to find a teenage girl of around 17, with long, dark curly hair and a teenage boy. He was tall, and gawky, and his arm was hooked around her waist.
"It's a bit out of date," Kira said, from behind him. He jumped. He hadn't even realized she was there, she moved so lightly and quietly. "That's Bethany, though. Your sister. And him there, they're engaged now, but that was when they started going out..."
Again, he turned the page, and this was a proper group photo now; Bethany, Kira, his parents and...
"My parents," she explained softly.
He nodded, flicking forward quickly now. Unfamiliar faces Kira defined with ease flashed past him; his grandparents, his old girlfriend, his friend, Kira's friend, Kira and him, Bethany and him, a random Santa Kira told him between giggles was his uncle, and a strange blonde woman Kira told him was her aunt- not his, her's.
"Dead, though."
His life was a stranger's life, now... it was only really starting to sink in... It didn't upset him, exactly. It was just... weird. Really, really weird.

While Kira was explaining things to Lee, Will had drifted off into a daydream.
It was strange for her to drift out of conversations concerning her friends but it reminded her of too much.
Her mum.
Her dad.
Her baby half sister.
"Would you excuse me for a minute?" she didn't even wait for an answer she got up and went to the toilets.
Why did she have such a horrible past?
Why did bad things happen to good people?
Why?
What is with the why's? Stop it already!
"Get a grip on yourself," Will told herself firmly.

"What's wrong with her?" asked Lee tentatively. Kira stared after Will for a couple of seconds, then sighed, and shook her head.
"No idea."
"Wouldn't it suck if I did know?" Lee smiled weakly at her. "Used to, then forgot? That'd be awful. It's not for me, you know."
"It's not?"
"It's not," he confirmed, then looked back at the pictures. "It's them... them I'm starting to worry about."
Kira chewed her lip. "They're coming soon. Prof. Hoodham told me. They're arriving after the Christmas Formal to take us home."
