Madeleine shook her head. "Listen, Will - do you want to talk about all of this, while we're walking?"

Will shyed away, "I....no, I don't. So how's Lee?" I need someone to talk too... Will thought desperately and finally her mind rested on one person...but how would it go?

Madeleine couldn't help but frown. But if... God forbid, if that ever happened to Lee, she wouldn't want to talk. Not at all. Not to anyone. "He's fine," she said, holding the door open for Will.

"Thanks, good that's good," Will gave a small nod at Madeleine to show her tanks. It was hard in wars to find people to stay strong with with so much corruption going on.

"It is," nodded Madeleine, walking into the corridor, starting to smile gently. "It is good."

"You know, he very rarely left your side when you were in a coma. He kept talking to you, holding your hand, just willing you to wake up...it was very sweet!" Will grinned.

She grimaced - she hated thinking about what he must have gone through when she was in the coma. She always imagined how she would be feeling, and all she could get was this deep, black abyss of despair and hopelessness and other hellish, nameless emotions. She never wanted Lee to go through anything resembling that. "I know," she said softly. "I can't believe he did it - I mean, it's only me! But it means... oh, so much that he did. When I woke up, and he came, it was..." She tailed off. How could she ever describe what she'd felt when that had happened?

Will smiled. A big one this time. "Madeleine...he loves you. And you know somewhere deep down if that had happened to him you would've been there with him all the same. Hell, he even punched Levi's teeth out! Actually I still have to congratulate him on that one," Will thought of where he would be. "Look, the important thing is that you love each other and nothing and I mean nothing can get in the way of that!"

"Of course I would have been there!" Madeleine exclaimed, slightly stung by the misunderstanding. "If that happened to him, I could never leave him. I love him! I couldn't... I couldn't bear it if that..." She broke off, glancing at Will, aware of what she'd just said. "Nothing ever will get in the way of it. Never."

Will realised that she had just said something wrong. "I know it won't," Will frowned inside. I just wished that Anton and I could have been like that! she thought glumly.

"It won't," she said determinedly, but was inwardly groaning at what she'd said, and how Will must be feeling. The most crucial thing I lack is a thing called tact...

"But that's a great thing. Someday you two might get married have children and grow old together!" she finished on what she hoped was a happy note.

She had to laugh. "Hmm. Well, maybe that's looking a little too far ahead." Wouldn't it be great, though? At the minute, she hadn't looked into the distant future. But she knew that right now, she couldn't live without him. Hopefully it'd still be the same later on...

"Hey, what's life without a little poking and prodding?!" Will smiled wickedly at her.

Madeleine laughed. "Awful!"
