Okay… so it’s like… wait what??! Scott was now on the impression that his Air teacher was making up these moves as he went along. Either that or Scott wasn’t paying the greatest amount of attention and was missing bits. The latter was probably truer but Scott considered that beside the point. “Sir? Could you show me that again please?” He called. “Alright Keith, so,” Scott cringed at this and looked around his classmates, “you make this with your left hand … and move you right over and around… your legs meanwhile are in this sta-… no… no what are you doing Scott? Come on, I taught you this three weeks ago. No, do… Oh for- hang on…” Professor Archer wasn’t an impatient man but it was safe to say his limits were stretched with Mr. Scott. Scott was like-wise unperturbed but nothing ever really flustered him. Prof. Archer went over to his pupil and stood beside him. He showed Scott the movements and then helped him work out how to make stuff happen as Scott would have put it. “Finally! Oh dear…” Professor Archer muttered to himself, “now…” Aaaaaand cue Scott’s tune out. He folded his arms, grabbing his left elbow with his right hand, looked around the room and caught the eye of the girl standing beside him. She was new, Isolde Moore, she was a Warrior and a good air-bender coincidently. She was tall for a girl so it was easier for Scott to make a hi-I’m-bored-too smile at her. “Hey.” He spoke as he smiled and then looked at the ceiling again. Hmm… that’s been dusted… "Well it would be it's the air bending class room." Scott mumbled.

Isolde smiled at the boy beside her and stood patiently. Focusing her attention on the window and listening to the professor at the same time. "Hey," he siad. Was that to me? "Hello," Isolde answered back in a slightly small voice. She was waiting for her turn to try this move out and was growing fairly impatient and bored. "I'm Isolde. We didn't have any homework for today did we?" she asked in a slightly of voice. She knew they didn't but she wanted to talk to someone and considering he said hi to her she thought that he would be upo for a little chat to pass the time until the bell rang for the next class. Ok, she wasn't very good at small talk. She admitted it freely and willingly but she had to say something. She was trying very hard not to yawn and keep her face from showing that she was bored. I wonder how well that's working? she mused to herself.

"I'm Isolde. We didn't have any homework for today did we?" Scott switched back to the girl, or rather, Isolde and shrugged. "I'm Scott and I have absolutely no idea. If it's any consultation I didn't do it if we did." Scott laughed softly. He took in her expression. Bored as hell. "Join the club pal." Scott laughed a little louder and exaggerated a yawn to show what he meant. "Do you get what we're doin'?"

"Neither did I," Isolde hid a smile as he over exaggerated his yawn. "Do you get what we're doin'?" he asked her. "Erm, I think so, I'm not overly sure about one hadn movement but the rest I can do...I think," she said slightly embarrassed. She had been trying out some moves on her own. "Ok, I want all of you to get into pairs. Somebody roughly your own height for the moves you're going to do," Prfessor Archer called to the class. Isolde looked at Scott and shrugged, "We may as well go together, considering you're here already,"

"Yeah sure, what the hey." Scott turned to face Isolde. He watched the rest of the class, like true 5th year students, noisily and thoroughly organise themselves into pairs of identical heights using the much favoured ok-you-two-stand-back-to-back-and-I'll-see-who's-taller method. Scott sighed and rolled his head as he waited patiently, smiling at Isolde on the last rotation. "OK, if you're all finished, practise that last motion with your partner and I'm going to watch you Scott and do you see if I find you doing that weird thing with your thumb again... so help me." Professor Archer finished weakly, "Then I want you to work with your partner and come up with a combination or a two-person action that will blow a force 7 across 5 metres, and five metres only. I don't want another 27th of January." He raised an eyebrow at a curly-haired boy, who pursed his lips to the side, while the rest of the class snorted or grinned at the memory depending on wether you were one of the people who were blown half an inch into the wall. Scott wasn't one of them so he coughed to cover a laugh. He nudged Isolde with an elbow. "Were you there for that? I can't remember you then." Scott wispered as Professor nattered some more rules and instructions. Scott loved silly things or teachings going not-to-plan in class. Unless of course it directly involved him. In which case he'd rather not bring it up.

Isolde had to think for a minute although her tongue already knew what to say. "No, I wasn't, why? what happened?" she grinned, genuinely interested. As she waited she practiced the last move; with the power of wind absent, so that she would be ready when Scott tried the move on her. Her eyes stared at the movement she was already making up and she tried to focus on it almost forgetting about Scott. "So, what happened?" her arms fell almost immediately to her side and she stared at his face. It reminded her somewhat of someone at home who had and still did hold a lot of interest in her, but the feeling was not returned to him in the way he hoped for. Only in friendship. That was the only thing she wanted him to be. Her friend. She felt a gust of wind go past them and saw the others starting to practice and the professor quickly glanced at them and she immediately started the move and carried it three quarters of the way through until he dropped his eyes.

Scott had noticed Isolde stop suddenly and stare at him just when she asked, “So, what happened?” But before he could reply to her question and ask his own, What’s with the look? Prof. Archer spotted them and Isolde quickly got into the correct position and began the move, while Scott got into brace position. Happy, the teacher’s critical gaze moved onto another pair and Isolde pulled the throw. “Basically, long story short, Brian over there was so ‘in the moment’ he ‘forgot’ to keep the 5 metre rule and everyone within a 9 metre radius suffered from a near broken bone, a fractured arm and I think someone got a pencil through the ear pinna. It was nasty but because the Carers are so d**n good at fixin’ you up no-one minds too much.” Scott switched to the offence position and paid careful attention to his thumb which had a habit of bending which would cause the air flow to be forced backwards below his elbow. Handy for defence in battle but not so handy when your teacher is breathing down your back making sure it’s going forwards. “So… you ready for this? Might not be necessary for a brace but just in case I manage it this time.” Scott rolled his eyes to show his doubtfulness that it would work.

"Oh." was the brilliant response to the story. Isolde never thought that something could go that badly in class. Professor Archer seemed to be a cautious freak when it came to practicing moves with the class. Especially with some of the people in this room. It was strange to think that she had only been here for what? a week maybe? and that she was getting on well with people here. She had met three lovely people already. All of them guys. Jude from her history class with the very classy and hot texas accent. Arihant from the dining hall, shy but lovely if you kept away from subjects more snesitive to people than others. He also had the same idea as her about the food here. And Scott from here...the elemental; power of wind, control classroom. A very absent minded boy who was not so good as listening but better to talk to. “So… you ready for this? Might not be necessary for a brace but just in case I manage it this time.” his voice brought her back from her reverie. "Sure, give it your best shot...as long as you don't kill me in the process," she teased.

Scott bounced slightly to get his head in gear and laughed, "You've nothing to worry about there pal, I couldn't kill someone with air if Madeline Baudelaire ordered me, and that's sayin' somthin' because when Madeleine tells you to do something you blinkin' well do it." Scott took a breath and gathered the air about his left arm and at the very last second pulled his thumb straight and pushed. His arm went forward and right balanced him until he hit the 5 metre rule making eye contact with Isolde and nodding so that she could brace the other direction before pulling the wind and standing straight. "Well... maybe I could hurt them a wee bit." Scot said grinning with pride and dusting his sleeves with pride, joking. He became a fraction serious though, when he asked his partner, "OK?"

"Okie cokes," her phrase from when she was five years of age popped up in her head and rolled of her tongue. Oh no..! she slapped a hand to her forehead, frowning. "Ignore that," she told Scott, then she smiled,"That was great!" She then mimicked the motion. "Yes," she jumped up and down on the spot, "Do you want to try again or do you want to make up our own moves now?" already knowing which one she wanted to do she waited for her partner to answer.

"Well, judging by your excited puppy bounce, I think we should move on.” Scott laughed. “Any id-hmm…” Scott stopped paying attention to himself and his eyes and mind wandered back to his stray thumb. “If you just forced through the lower forearm…” Scott mumbled for a minute or so. If Isolde had been speaking to him he wouldn’t have heard a word. Finally, thinking done, he came back to earth and looked at his partner. “Would it confuse you if we tried a slightly different movement to the one we’ve just done. It’s basically the same but you be an idiot like me and bend your thumb like that and the shift your energy so that it comes under your arm and-No!” He demonstrated and the effect was… powerful. He nearly panicked as he was sure he would pass the 5 metre rule at a force 11 and hit the girl behind him. Luckily for her he managed to perform an emergency stop and almost broke his arm in the process. “Ooooh, right, remember that one for when we aren’t under a limit.” Scott rubbed his arm, gritting his teeth and growling softly at it. Ow. Scott looked around the room and saw no sign of Prof. Archer. Scott took a step closer (whilst trying to look nonchalant) and met the eyes of his partner, “Is there any chance he didn’t see?” he asked quietly.

Isolde looked around the room just as Scott had. "I don't think so..." Isolde was not entirely sure. Isolde had watched his move first, thinking she should play it safe and it turned out that hse had been right to. "Maybe we could...." her eyes glazed over as she thought up a move in her head. She came out of her reverie and decided to try the move. She twirled around while her left arm made a circle at the same time. Then she dropped to her right leg and her left one lashed out as if she was trying to trip someone up. She managed to make a force 3 wind attack. "Well it was a try...and my leg is gonna suffer. Shasha is gonna kill me. Irish Dancing is not easy when you injured any part of your leg," she rambled. She looked up and saw everyone else in the class trying to come up with moves of their own in their pairs. "Are you ok? That looked quite painful," Isolde looked at his arm he was rubbing, "Do you need to go the....matron?"

Scott stopped rubbing his still rather painful arm and put his fists on his hips while frowning, and, in typical Warrior macho-ness replied, “Matron? Why would I have to go to matron? It’s not sore at all. I rub my arm sometimes. It’s… it’s a habit… so you do Irish dancing?” Scott changed the subject as delicately as a hippo falling off a cliff, while attempting Isolde’s move. He then developed her move from a kick to swinging his legs, creating a force 5 gust, into an Olympic quality pommel horse balance, “My sister used to Scottish Highland." He then liftied all his weight into a handstand from a bent arm position, (which he knew was really very difficult) in one fluid movement. He was showing off now and he knew it. It was mainly due to boredom though. He bent his legs down until he could see his feet before pushing off his hands and landing solidly, straightening his back so that he came up standing. "Are you a professional?”

Ok, she had to laugh. "… so you do Irish dancing?” he changed the subject rapidly. Then he started to show off....and she had to roll her eyes and couple of times and also stare in amazement at some of the things he did. "Are you a professional?” he asked. "Well, erm, yes, I am. I'm in the Irish Dancing League," she admitted a bit embarrassed. Well she hadn't told that many people here, or met that many people to tell. "Scottish Highland? Wow, that is pretty awesome. I went to see that once, it's hard going," she stared of aimlessly at the ceiling. "Why did she give up?" she asked sitting on the edge of the desk.

Uh oh... What was he supposed to tell her? His father was a low life drunk who wasted so much money on his favourite hobby, his children had to give up theirs. Aye right, lovely conversation. "She just quit." He said, rather more sharply than he had intended. Quickly, change topic. "But wow the league eh?" Pathetic. Scott groaned to himself and slapped his forehead internally.
