Macy ran through the corridors, trying to get to her class before the bell. She reached the door just before it rang, which was a relief. She entered the classroom for 'Shape-Shifting and Transformation'. Gypsy quickly changed from a cat to a mouse and Macy lifted her up and put her into her coat pocket. She went into the large classroom and saw that there was an empty seat on the far right row, near the back. She walked over to it and sat down. She looked around her and noticed that there was a a ginger girl beside her. She smiled, trying to make a good first impression. The girl looked at her then looked at the front of the class, waiting for the teacher. Macy rolled her eyes nd started to lay her things on her deck: her pencil case, her notebook, the workbook that they had received a week before class, telling them to read up to chapter 5, but being Macy, she had finished it.
Finally the teacher came in. It was a woman, around her mid-sixties with browish hair that had some grey bits in it, tied up in a bun. She walked over to the front table and took off her brown coat and set her bag under it. She took a bit of chalk and wrote on the board: Shape-shifting and Transformation - Prof. Simpson. She set down her chalk and picked up the textbook and opened it.
"Everyone turn to page 10." She said, in a loud, droning voice. Macy opened her textbook and remembered page 10 - Introduction to Shape-shifting and Transformation.
"Now, can anyone tell me where the first accounts of a person being able to shape-shift where found?" Prof. Simpson asked. Macy put up her hand, but found that the ginger girl had put up her hand too. "Yes..Miss Harte."
The ginger girl replied, in a strong southern English accent:
"They were found in the caves of Mongolia. It showed a drawing of a person who seemed to be able to transform into a dog. They date back to 100,000 BC." She said, smugly.
"Well done. And can anybody else tell me where the first written accounts are found?" Macy again knew the answer and shot up her hand. Along with the ginger girl.
"Yes, Miss Deltine."
"They were found in Argentina in 1866. It was a large scroll in Latin that talked about a girl who was supposedly working for the devil because she could change into a black cat. It was a very strange find because they didn't have anything to do with the area that they were found in. Archeologist's think that they could have been brought over, but they are so old, they don't have any idea other than that." She said, pleased with her answer.
"Well done. And what else, Miss Harte?" Macy realized that the girl beside her had her hand up as well.
"Around that time, another parchment was found in Canada saying that a man could change into an eagle. They were in the original Germanic, and have been found to be older than the Argentinian scrolls."
"That is correct." Prof. Simpson replied. The girl turned round and smiled at Macy in a nice on the outside, but horrid on the inside kind-of-way.
"And Mr. Halliday?" The teacher asked a boy who was sitting near the front with his hand up.
"Um..are we actually going to shape-shift at all?"
Prof. Simpson seemed a bit peeved at this.
"You want to shape-shift?" She asked. She stared at him and he changed into a rat, still in his chair. He immediately changed back to his normal self.
"How did you do that?" He asked, shaking.
"You see, in this class we will be studying how to not only transform ourselves, but to learn how we can make others transform."
Wow, Macy thought. Now that would be cool.
"Okay, students, we don't have that long left, but by next class, I want yous all to read up to chapter 7. Now, that won't be hard for those who did their last assignment to read up to chapter 5." There was a small groan from the class, and they started to put their things away. The Bell rang and Macy stood up.
"I'm Jessica. Jessica Harte." The ginger girl had come over to talk to her.
"Cool. I'm Macy Deltine." She said, trying to drop hints that she wasn't interested.
"What group are you in?"
Macy was about to say 'Head of Academics', but remembered that she wasn't meant to yet. "Academics. You?"
"Oh, I'm in Academics too! Do you know who's head yet? I wanted to be it, I was so close, but I was bumped for some loser." She said, laughing.
Macy tried her best not to slap Jessica, but she calmly replied, "No, I don't know who's head. Oh, is that the time?! I've got to go and meet some people. Well, see you next class!" She said, with a fake smile. She turned around and tried to walk to the door as fast as she could. Jessica Harte had just made an enemy.
