Abby was sitting by herself in english. The room was boiling and the teacher wouldn't let them open any windows. She was falling asleep too. "So, what does Thomas Hardy try to portray?" Prof. Brüfman asked the class though no one put their hand up to answer because most of them were asleep. "Anyone?" the Prof. tried again. Again nobody moved but somebody did start to snore softly. Bang! The whole class jumped up and a few girls screamed. "Are you all awake now? Do I have your full attention? Good, now as I was saying....." Abby had zoned out completely within a minute. She didn't even notice someone creeping over to her.

Olivia was now starting to get annoyed. "Abby. Abby. Abby." But the new girl was either ignoring her or couldn't hear her. She'd dropped her pen, and it had rolled backwards towards Olivia, who had picked it up and had been trying to get hold of her for the past ten minutes. "Dammit, Abby," she hissed, leaning towards Abby's desk, when a bang exploded at the other side of the room, making her start back. Another five minutes later, Professor Brüfman was back in full flow. Olivia's neighbour, "Auntie" Elizabeth, had given her the book - Tess of the d'Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy - and Olivia had liked it. But her teacher was now killing every trace of enthusiasm she'd had for the story. He was now so deep in his monologue that he wasn't noticing the conversations starting up in the classroom. "Abby. Abby." For goodness' sake! Olivia glanced up at Professor Brüfman, before silently getting up and going over to Abby. "You dropped your pen," she whispered.

Abby jumped as she whispered softly in her ear. "What? Oh thanks, I hadn't noticed," Abby thanked the girl as she stretched and yawned. "This is so dull, not to mention ]boring. I used to love english but he's killing my liking for the subject very quickly," Abby looked down at Olivia. "What about you? You sleeping or....yeah well, sleeping I guess?" Abby couldn't think of naything else that anybody would be doing. "I can't stand listening to hi psycho babble anymore!"

"I've been reading ahead," Olivia replied, keeping her eyes trained on the professor's back in case he turned around from the board. "I've read the book about a million times, but if I read it, I can't hear him talk. It works, right?" Stupid teacher. It really was a brilliant book, and Olivia was livid that he was trying to kill it for her.

"If you say so," Abby snorted quietly. "It doesn't work for me, if anything it puts me to sleep," she kept her eyes fixed on his back for a few minutes before glancing down at Olivia. "I would give anything to be in any of the sciences right now," she gave a frown of disappointment and disgust. She went into her bag and pulled out her notebook and started sketching her picture again. "Do you like his classes?"

Olivia watched the professor's back warily, unwilling to do the right thing and go back to her seat. "I like the book," she replied. "Not his classes."

Abby concealed her surprise. Eugh! "Cool. So what group are you in?" she decided to change the topic of of the class and him!

Olivia glanced up at the teacher again... then decided that she just didn't care. "Carers." Speaking of that, actually, was she on duty tonight? She winced involuntarily. Eugh just about summed that up. Though, she wasn't sure - so probably not. That was good; she'd get some time with Jack, which would be nice. Well... nice... Okay, back to the present, Olivia. A hint of a smile still on her face from that thought, she finished her sentence. "And you're a ...?" she prompted.

"I'm an Academic," Abby replied. Ok. Academics-Macy Deltine. Spies-Kira Norris. Warriors- Carers- "Whose the head of Carers and Warriors?" Abby suddenly asked, not realising she didn't know who they were. She probably had more than likely seen them around the school corridors or probably had some calss with them...then again she was oblivious most of the time, with reading her mothers books or going over school work in her head so she didn't forget it.

"Well, Will Wright is Head of the Carers," Olivia said, casually leaning against the vacated desk beside her, in the manner she was used to. "And Madeleine Baudelaire is Head of the Warriors... I'm not surprised you haven't seen her yet; she's been a little... busy," she finished delicately, catching the gaze of a boy across the room and smiling flirtatiously for a second, before turning her eyes back to Abby. Madeleine and her being busy. There had been Lee's horrific memory loss, when anyone seeing Madeleine, let alone strangers, was a bit of a rarity. Everyone had missed her smile, and her Warriors had missed her confidence and .... well, herself, really. Madeleine had gone. And even though before they had teased the two about their sickening togetherness, they'd all found themselves missing Madeleine and Lee. But thank God they were back now. Lee's memory had returned, and now the two were engaged! Normally, Olivia would have made a crack about fast moving, but to see Madeleine that happy... she just couldn't make the joke. Though they would have found it funny, it just seemed cheap. They were so... happy. It was disgusting, and now they were back to the moaning about sickeningness again.

"Oh," was her smart answer. "I don't think I've seen either of them, though I may have a class with one of them...ah well," she smiled and dismissed the subject. "What're the other three like as a Head? I mean I know what Macy is like....very smart and a lovely person thoguh quite.....I don't know," Abby couldn't find the right word.

Olivia didn't know what she thought of this question. What were Kira, Madeleine and Will like as Heads? There were so many answers to that. What were they like as people? As leaders? Would they win the war? Let's just combine all that. "Well, I don't know much about the other two, but Will is a good Head," Olivia responded. "Well, there are quite a few things that we don't see eye to eye on in what we do, but that isn't something I can control. In leading the group, though, I've no cause to complain. She's fair, and most of the time she knows what she's doing, which is more than most people," she added, with a laugh. "Madeleine... obviously I can't speak from experience here, but the Warriors seem to love her. She's respected, and she hasn't lost a battle yet, so obviously she's doing something right. Kira... again, she's very respected, and she does a great job at organising everything, even if she seems a little... drifty at times. But her Spies seem to love her, as well." Really, how would she know? Olivia glanced up at the teacher, who still hadn't noticed. Perhaps, she wondered, perhaps he really is deaf.

"I think I might have to meet Madeleine and Will sometime," Abby stared down at her pen. "...So what can we interpret from this? What is Hardy tryign to build a sense of? Mr. Blake?" "I think someone should take him to the Carers...he needs his sight and hearing tested!" Abby said after a while.
