Klaus smiled sheepishly and lowered Leia back down gently.
"Uh, sorry about that, I forgot about that..."
He watched her feet as they set on the ground and then looked up at her face again," Sorry if I do that in the future, I tend to forget myself with people outside the family. Where to first, leader?" |

"I'm sure I'll get used to it. You just took me by surprise." Leia smiled at Klaus again.
"To the roof then, follow me." Leia led out of Klaus' room and back to the main corridor. After checking to see if he was following, she turned into a nearby doorway and crossed to a cupboard which held a hidden flight of stairs which led upwards.
"There's not very many people who know about this staircase, it doesn't directly lead to the roof, but again, it's out of th eway of people; come on." She started ascending the spiral staircase.

Klaus was in awe of Leia's knowledge of rarely used routes. He was appreciative to find out about them. He also liked that Leia seemed to have a somewhat curious mind, which would probably be why she found these routes, and that was always a great feature for a person to have.
"Uh, is there a roof terrace or are we going to be walking on the actual slate and all that?" He asked worriedly. Klaus wasn't afraid of heights, he couldn't be with his levitation, what he was afraid of though, was his sense of balance, which wasn't always the best. |

"There's a few different areas - I'm not sure which one I'll take you too yet... why, scared of falling?" Leia turned back and hurried up the remaining steps, then through another door. She walked forward a few paces, looked throuhg a window, then went back in the opposite direction. "There's so many passages, I don't quite know them all off yet, but I'm fairly sure that it's this way."
Leia evantually arrived at a vellux window - that was the reason not too many people seemed to know about the roof access - and turned the handle opening onto a shorter flight of stairs in the open air. She danced to the top, and turned to wait for Klaus.

Klaus choked back a laughed, "Scared may be a bit of an understatement."
It really was utterly ridiculous, because he wouldn't actually fall, he would just start floating if gravity even tried it. Klaus stopped and didn't attempt to move when Leia opened and climbed through a window. She had to be kidding. When she turned round to face him, he realised that she was in fact serious.
"Is this safe?" He asked warily, slowly climbing the small set of steps.

Leia had to laugh at this - "Is this safe?". I mean, you'd expect someone who can levitate to be perfectly fine with heights.
"Sorry. but it is a bit ironic that you're scared of heights. Come on, it's perfectly fine."
Leia had decided that for his first visit to the roof, she would bring Klaus to the flat area, rather than the tiles. Afterall, she hadn't enjoyed the slant too much the first time she went on them. Still she would probably be even safer if Klaus was with her.
Seeing that Klaus was still reluctant to come up, she grabbed his hand to pull him up the last few steps. "See, it's perfectly safe. I don't know how you'd manage to fall from here."

"It's not the heights, it's the falling and few seconds of not being in control..." Klaus grumbled. Had it been anyone other than Leia finding his fear amusing, they would have no teeth left, but he didn't mind her laughing for some reason and even let a little smile show. He felt quite thankful that Leia pulled him up the last few steps, for had it been of his own accord he would have ran off and hid in his closet. "It takes a special kind of retard, which I happen to be at times... I must say though, the view so far up here is lovely," he smiled again, looking down over the grounds. It was made all the more better by having such nice company. |

"I suppose that makes sense... in a weird way. You're used to having control, so losing it.... yeah I think I understand." Leia looked back to the view.
"The first time I came up here it was dawn. So beautiful. I can generally be found either here or in the gardens every morning at dawn, though I have to say that sunsest is pretty awesome too." She smiled again at Klaus. It was a bit weird, being up here with him. It felt like she was in a weird sort of way letting him see part of who she really was. It felt like a really private scene, like no one was going to disturb them. Like they were isolated. But again, she didn't mind. She was perfectly happy to just stand there with him.

"Well, maybe one morning I shall have to find and join you. That is of course, if you can promise me it's as beautiful as you," Klaus smiled, attempting his charming smile. It was a poor attempt because he was mentalling kicking himself repeatedly.
Oh way to creep her out, Klaus...
He really had the awful feeling that he might have put Leia off being friends with him, but just the moment and Leia was just making him not logically think, which was what he usually was best at. He shifted his weight from leg to leg and stared out over the grounds again, willing the red in his cheeks to disappear.

Leia smiled at him, "Yeah that would be nice." She paused to watch his face slowly go red. Then she realised what he had said.
"Oh!..." Leia was taken by surprise. THen she herself went a raspberry colour. Well that was unexpected. Shivers went through her as she thought about what he'd said. He'd called her beautiful. Wow. And Leia couldn't exactly say that she wasn't thrilled that he thought that. Her blush deepened.
"I... I guess..." Leia didn't really know where she was going with this. She was struggling to put words into any sort of order, let alone make them make sense. "Well," she started again, "you haven't seen what you're comparing me to yet... On the other hand... I have seen them... Ah, I'm making no sense." Leia looked away from Klaus, trying (but most likely failing) to hide her confusion from Klaus. She wanted to compare him to the dawn and sunset at orchid, but wasn't sure whether that was an appropriate comment to make to a boy.
Unable to think clearly she said again, "Yeah, you should definately come along sometime." She smiled at him, but her face still had the resemblance of a cherry.

Although he himself was no better at that particular moment, Klaus had to hold back a little chuckle at Leia's nonsensical rembling. He was glad she hadn't had a bad reaction to his compliment, that was always a good sign. Right? Regaining his composure, Klaus took a small, subtle step closer to Leia and cocked his head as he looked at her.
"So how come you haven't shown anyone else these beautiful wonders that you've found?"
He now wasn't trying to charm her again, he was genuinely curious. The views were so pretty, and she was a very good tourguide. He felt slightly biased now though due to his growing attraction. Klaus didn't want to tell her and psych her out, but he was picking up on her embarassed emotions. Feeling kind of bad, he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Sorry for embarassing you," he whispered, though he didn't know why he lowered his voice.

"Sorry for embarassing you," Klaus whispered. The touch of his hand on her shoulder sent shivers down her spine, but she wasn't cold. Her smile faded slighly as she gazed into his eyes.
"I... I guess I haven't found someone who I've connected with before... I feel... that I have a connection with you..." Leia's voice died out towards the end of the sentence. She was mesmerised by Klaus. She turned slightly so that they were closer. She stared into his eyes.

Klaus took a deep breath and licked his bottom lip a little as he exhaled. This was an odd habit of his he did when nervous. His eyes were caught in hers as he spoke. "Well Leia, I uh... I'm glad you said that first. I feel kind of like I've known you forever rather than just a short while..."
He took another small step closer to her, his logical brain was slapping him to bits. Now, no matter what Klaus did in his old school, he was never one to get with many girls. And contrary to what his friends and family thought, he had only ever had one proper girlfriend. These briefly flashed through his head as his hand shakily reached forward to sweep back a stray piece of hair from Leia's face. |

Leia went slightly pink. "Yeah, forever sounds good, yeah, let's do that..." Later she realised that what she sai dmade no sense, but at that moment it didn't really matter to Leia. She couldn't concentrate on what she was saying, and she couldn't concentrate very much on what Klaus was saying... all she was aware of was how close they were, and how nice it was. Her heart rate sped up.

Today was the one time in his life that Klaus wished rid of and cursed his ability to pick up feelings. His stomach started doing a few backflips when she said forever sounded good, even if that actually didn't seem to mean anything. He wanted so dearly just to lean forward and close the gap between their lips when something clicked in his head. Klaus took a step back and shook his head slightly. "I'm sorry, I was being too forward getting that close..." He could just tell if Vanya had been their she would be laughing and asking when he became a gentleman.
