"Yeah," Damien frowned, remembering back to the days when he did have to fight some rabid monster or absolute thingy. "Only, not proper weapons - usually I just had to make do with what I could find; you know, like a crow bar or something? I have some experience with swords and bows and arrows, and I've read a lot of stuff about explosives, but I've never used any."
Damien thought this made him sound a bit nerdy and wousey, but honesty really was the best policy at the minute.

"Well, that's more than some people have - and at least you had the wit to make do with your own weapons," Madeleine said, deciding not to ask. "And at the minute, we're going over the use of swords, because almost everybody's swordwork is woeful."

Madeleine winced. "Yeah, I got shot down in the last battle, about six weeks ago, and I was in a coma for a bit. It's nothing, I'm over it now."
