'Bex'... Dear, he was losing his flair for originality. Kira would've killed him. 'Bex' just about bordered on acceptable- but when it came to naming names, y'all had to come up with one of those 'middling' names. Not too common. Not so obviously bizarre it sounded made up. So names like, 'Sarah,' and, 'Jack,' were out of the question. As were names like, 'Saoirse,' and, 'Lancelot'. But names like, 'Philip,' and, 'Caitlyn,' and 'Sian'... now, those names worked- "... car is parked somewhere around here... around that corner I think... it'll be quicker than walking...?" Wow, hang on- what? Jude rounded on the spot to look at Nadia, his eyes popping. "I reckon I must've heard that wrong- did you say you had a car?" Cars were common in Cardsdale, but uncommonly owned by an Orchid student. Most got around by foot, train or levitation. So how come she had a car?

Jude stopped, turned to Nadia, his eyes appearing to be trying to escape from his skull, "I reckon I must've heard that wrong- did you say you had a car?" Uh-oh! Was it really uncommon then? At the modeling academy everyone had had cars... oh no... I'm standing out... exactly what I don't want to do... oh well he may as well process the full damage... "Yeah... um ... is that weird? 'Cus I don't really want to stand out..." Nadia said with a very much anxious expression. As she was saying this she led Jude around the corner and yep, it was the right street. She walked over to her car and opened it with keys from her pocket. She looked back at Jude to see his reaction. It was a pretty nice car afterall... a red BMW M3 Convertible. She didn't really know much about cars... only that this was a good one.

Feck... Jude probably just looked like he'd been slapped, or something. 'Bex' may've said she didn't want to stand out but hell was she going the wrong way about it. An M3 Convertible stuck out like a sore thumb no matter where you went. Any car worth that much did. Its cut and color only served to make it jump out atcha' all the more. And in a run-down little village like Cardsdale... Nothing could've looked more out of place. "Hardly anyone has cars at Orchid," Jude finally choked back in reply, edging forwards towards the dream car. "You may be the only one.."

Nadia could see from Jude's face that it most definitely was out of the ordinary to say the least to have a car. And it was true, Nadia hadn't seen any cars like hers but she had had a hidden hope that they were all hidden away for some unknown reason. "Hardly anyone has cars at Orchid," Jude replied, all the while coming closer to where she was standing by the car door. "You may be the only one.." Her worst nightmare. Well that was being a tad dramatic but still... the only one. Nadia took this in for several moments before opening and closing her mouth like a fish. She finally managed to get the words out with a hint of smile, "Well, I guess I'll just have to sell it. I don't want to stick out..." But Nadia couldn't keep it going. She smiled again and looked directly at Jude, "Sorry, I couldn't resist... There is no way I'm selling my car... I don't need the extra money and it's useful... to yanno... get you places." Not that there were many places outside Orchid that Nadia wanted to go but it was nice to keep her options open. "If we're going to take the car," Nadia paused for effect, "do you want to drive?" As she said this she dangled the keys in front of Jude.

A good minute had passed by the time Jude trusted himself enough to reply. "... 'Kay." In Texas- since, really, Texas was the best goddam state in the world- kids could learn to drive at 13. As part of one of the orphanage's many failed attempts to make their kids feel, 'normal,' they had all received sponsored driving lessons from the state. It may've made the kids the victims of charity, but heck, when Jude got home from Orchid Hill that Summer to discover he was gonna spend the next few months driving through the Texas countryside, he couldn't have been happier. He hadn't been near a set of car keys since. Limply, Jude lifted the keys from Nadia's hand with a slight murmur of, "Thanks." As he opened the door and slid into the soft leather front seat, he turned to look at her. "How fast does this thing go?"

Nadia barely heard his reply... so quiet... But he took the keys and gone in. Nadia walked around the other side and gone in the passenger seat. "How fast does this thing go?" How fast...? Nadia had never really tested the speed of her car... she liked to keep well inside the limit unless in the middle of nowhere when she wasn't with anyone... but still not that fast... she had a fear of crashing. "I'm not really sure to be honest... I've never gone all out..." Nadia then adjusted her seatbelt making sure it was securely fastened. She was beginning to wish she had been more careful in handing her keys over... After all she didn't really know the guy... "I think that its not the best idea to test cars..." she said this under her breath not really wanting Jude to hear but at the same time wishing that he would. "

It was a goddam good thing for Be- agh, Nadia- that he had enhanced senses. She wasn't the best at concealing her emotions. A nervous sort of doubt was spreading over her features. Jude caught himself on at that, and handed back the keys. "I don't wanna mess up your car, yeah?" he shook them into her palm. "I ain't driven for a long time. God knows it could go wrong!" He gave her the slightest of encouraging nods as he climbed back out of the car and into the street. "You drive."

"I don't wanna mess up your car, yeah?" he shook them into her palm. Nadia was surprised to say the least... she evidently had boys all wrong... maybe cars aren't all that matters to the male species. "I ain't driven for a long time. God knows it could go wrong!" So glad that he'd been responsible then. Nadi was sure the relief was clear to see on her face but she didn't really want to offend him... it had been really weird, her offering up the keys to Jude... not something she'd usually do. He gave Nadia the slightest of encouraging nods as he climbed back out of the car and into the street. "You drive." Nadia was still a little dumbfounded that he'd passed up the chance to drive but she managed to get out of the car and into the driver's side with little trouble more than a trip; which she thankfully did not fall flat on her face from. She was thinking too much. Jude had given her plenty to think about - she had to reassess her opinion of the human male now... weird. "Are you from Americ?... It's totally random but I've been trying to work it out all evening, apart from when i was passed out of course." My that sounded a little bit stupid.

Jude was surprised into laughter. Most girls- okay, every girl he'd ever met so far- had been able to pinpoint the exact location of his birth from the word, "Howdy." "I'm from Texas, yeah," he laughed. "Roundabout Houston- y'know, the big city?" Once, Ralph had referred to him as a, 'city-slicker'. Jude had never quite forgiven him. "Where are you from, then?" Jude felt it only fair that he return the question, as he settled into the seat beside her, and fastened his belt.

Jude started laughing before replying "I'm from Texas, yeah," Evidently people usually guessed right away... yeah Nadia can't do accents. "Roundabout Houston- y'know, the big city?" Surprisingly that was one city Nadia had heard of. She was not really any good at geography. "Where are you from, then?" The question Nadia had been half dreading. Not that there was anything wrong with Callander. Just that her family lived there. Still she hated even thinking about it. Nadia frowned before answering, "Callander, near Stirling. But I've lived in England for a number of years now." She didn't really have any particualr accent she thought, but then, who was she to judge that? She started to drive in the general direction of Orchid, hoping that she didn't go the wrong way.

ooc: Think I'll get down to wrapping this up now, 'kay? Y'all can reply if you need/want to.
Jude leaned backwards in his seat comfortably. It was a really nice car to sit in; he hadn't ever sat in anything like this before. This was the kind of car kids like Jude had to admire from afar. And now here he was. In one. Maybe another day- 'cause Jude wasn't gonna let go of the dream now that he'd crept so close- but maybe some day, Nadia would be okay with him taking the wheel. And when that day came... hell. It'd be a good'un.
