Arihant swallowed. This was... maybe... this was taking it a bit far, wasn't it? Actually... actually touching her. He knew that he was wearing gloves, and that, technically, there was no risk. In fact, he knew that in a physical sense, there was no risk at all. He had shaken Kennedy's hand, he had patted Lynn on the back. Those apprehensive gestures of friendship had become the norm, for him. But... with Kira, it wasn't the same, was it? Had Lynn been right? He pushed the thought away, again. It was getting harder to do it; he could tell. He'd have to think about it later. Soon. That'd be fun. "All right," he said, meaning to go on, but words abandoned him. Instead, he took a steadying breath, raised his hand, and prepared to do this gently. He had to do it gently, or he could - If he kept thinking like this, he'd never get it over with. So, heart racing, he let his hand swing forward and waited for the (gentle, gentle, gentle!) thud of her palm against his.

Thud. What a funny noise. She'd never heard anything quite like it before. When hands hit against each other, they usually made a clapping noise. Or if hands met carefully like theirs' had, there was the softest of silent scufflings. It must be the worn leather material of his gloves that made that sort of noise. Beneath the gloves, she could feel the heat of his hand. He was warm. Kira gulped suddenly, and pulled her hand back. Her palm had been so much smaller and thinner than his. "I'll see you next term, Arihant," she muttered, then, ducking her head, she spun on her heel, and left. Thud. Thud. Thud. Funny. Her heart was beating much faster than usual.
