"Yes thank you," Will was lost in space. Lost in time.She ripped her eyes away from the fire. They darted from Chloe to Lee and back again. She got up and started pacing in front of the fire with the two blankets wrapped tightly around her. She sighed and sat down beside Lee.
"Lee, if you had one wish in the whole world what would it be and you can't change it once you've made it?" she asked looking into his eyes.
She could always tell when people lied to her. Maybe it was because of her premonition power but if it wasn't then it was natural instinct.
There was a bang from the other side of the room. She turned to look at who it was. Anton walked across the room. Their eyes met. His full of hurt and her's full of fiery anger. He carried on walking over to the boys dormatories. She rested her head on the back of the seat and closed her eyes.
Why couldn't life be simple?
Why were there wars?
Why did people always fight?
Why, why, why, why, why?
The world was full of why's, but never seemed to have answers to them. She opened one eye and watched Lee look into the fire. He looked at her and she quickly closed her eye. He sighed. She thought he thought she was asleep or at least trying to.
"Well?"

Lee didn't even need to think.
"Selfish man that I am," he smiled inwardly at this little piece of poetry, "I'd wish that I could've made Madeleine happy, and that we were still together."
His eyes flickered to Chloe, who slept on; oblivious to everything around her.
"Your turn."

"No. me mam hanged herself and me dad was murdered. I came home one day and my mum was hanging from the ceiling and six months after that I hear a loud bang from outside, I ran out to the front and there was my dad lying face up on the ground blood pouring from his heart!" she answered as if though she was unfased by this news.
"Don't feel sorry for me, I'm fine I have wonderful Godparents!" she said happily and sad at the same time.

Lee felt a pang of pity anyway for Will- that someone so kind should have to have suffered like that. He didn't want to feel the pity- he knew what it was like not to want to be pitied. If he could stand up, and tell the world about him and Madeleine without making a big deal of it; without them feeling sorry for him and treating him kindly because of it... well, it'd make things seem better.
It was called pretending.
"See?" he said weakly. "I was being selfish."

"No you're not. You're being human, you wish for something that you want or wanted and that you can't have," she paused, "Lee I'm sure she'll see in her heart what she's done and you might forgive each other and that you will be happy sooner or later and if not well you've got people who love and care about you. Madeleine loves you and always will and the same with you and nothing will ever change that," she thought about her and Anton.
"You do know if you ever need to talk to someone I'll be here," she said sheepishly.

Lee didn't answer. He couldn't...
He couldn't believe a lie.
"It's okay, Will," he smiled. "Thanks, but my cousin's always there for me, and vice versa. But at least I know I can trust you."

"Course you can." Will was satisfied with what she had told him. "She looks so peaceful," Will nodded her head at Chloe. Will wished, no beyond wished... that someday she would be in Chloe's place, beside Lee.
Suddenly there was a loud clap of thunder. Will who had been relaxed hadn't anticipated this and jumped and fell off the settee.
"Ow, I wasn't expecting that!" she lay on the floor, lazy as she was she couldn't be bothered to crawl back onto the couch.

"Three minutes past a freckle?!" Will answered. She had no idea and didn't care. "Does it matter any way? Or are you getting sick of talking to me already?" Will looked at him in mock outrage.

Chloe was moving. He watched her warily.

Will sat up and watched Chloe. Please don't wake up, please, plaease, please, don't wake up Wil hoped to the heavens and back that she wouldn't.
"So who do you have for earth control?" Will tried to start up a conversation again.
