"No one can be quite as sickened by it as me, Madeleine," She said under her breath, her resolve wavering a touch. "I don't know quite what the point was either. I really...I didn't wish to upset you." It was true, she may be in a state of complete exhaustion most of the time, but Misa didn't walk around with her eyes shut. She had seen the change in Madeleine's attitude today. She had just watched herself destroy it. What kind of a monster was she? She rubbed her eyes, supressing a yawn, "I'm sorry, I'm keeping you from what ever you could be doing right now," she said realising the break was half over already. Time flies when your having a fit...

Madeleine shook her head. "No, it's fine. Don't worry about it." What could she be doing? She'd just gotten engaged - she could go and track Lee down, spend break with him - they could find Kira and tell her... But Madeleine knew that she couldn't leave Misa in this state. "I've nothing else to do," she lied fluently, leaning back against the leg of the table.

She heard the slight distance in Madeleine's voice that sang in a hushed whisper of a desire to be elsewhere, but she could hear that Madeleine was concerned, too. A part of her was crying out to tell Madeleine everything, how scared she was, how alone she felt even while talking about, how much it hurt to just be like this, the words were on the tip of her tongue all she had to do was say them..."I-I'd better go," Misa said, looking at the floor. She was such a coward, all those words she should have said...

Madeleine looked at Misa, who was studiously avoiding her gaze. "Fine," she said softly. "But Misa, if this happens again, I need you to tell me, okay?" Madeleine wasn't going to let this happen. No way. Not only because she'd seen what would happen to Misa if she did stand back and turn a blind eye, and not only because Misa was a Warrior, and therefore it was Madeleine duty to make sure she was okay - but because she was her friend, and Madeleine was d**ned if she was going to let them screw about with her mind. "Okay?" she prompted.

It was daft, but she felt tears come to her eyes as she heard the true friend's concern in Madeleine's voice. So few people would have cared on that level. Yet, it only instilled within her a feeling of even worse guilt that she had burdened Madeleine with this information, what good had it done? "If he...if he contacts me again, you mean?" Misa asked slowly.

"Yes," Madeleine said. "If he contacts you, or if you have a fit like that again - anything like that. Please tell me. I won't tell anyone, okay, but I don't want... just tell me, please?"

Could she promise that? The fits...they were happening two or three times a day. And the dreams, nearly every night. There was no way she was going to tell Madeleine that. It just wasn't right. But she couldn't simply repay Madeleine's kindness by lying to her. "Okay. If they get bad, I'll tell you." She relented.

Madeleine frowned. She'd call that bad, so if it got any worse... "Okay," she said, her voice still soft. "Thanks."

Misa nodded, trying to force herself away from the belief that Madeleine was saying what she was because she truly cared what was happening to Misa. It was Madeleine's duty as her Head to ask the necessary questions - nothing more, nothing less. "Okay," Misa said, clearly her throat carefully to cover any weakness in it. However, it instead caused a bout of coughing to take her, tearing up her eyes and hurting her chest. No, the last thing she needed right now was to get a cold or bug. Her body couldn't take it. Once it subsided she quietly said, "Goodbye, then." And left without waiting for a response.
